Mary Hopkin was my ex sister-in-law's best friend. Her parents came to our wedding. She wasn't able to come as she was touring in the States at the time. She was a lovely girl, far too nice and shy to be a celebrity, but what a voice she had!
Really. What a small world we live in. She was unusual for the time, clean cut, as you say nice and shy. I remember the song takes me back to my wonderful childhood. Crikey was it really 1969.

Well done you. That is a brilliant result after having stopped all meds. Big clap from me. :)
Thank you dear. All down to the people here giving advice and encouragement. I have to say I don't use my meter as much as I did. Perhaps for a couple of weeks every so often. I think I need to vary my diet a little, especially with winter approaching and that will involve some testing. I see the DN at the end of December.
Thanks again. :-)

Hi, Thanks for that peacetrain, although my figures at the outset were much lower than yours, what you describe above is not too dissimilar to what I am doing, maybe I'm not on so much fat as you and maybe have to increase it but I do eat all the meats. Certainly a great deal of veg's and lot of fish both oily like mackerel 3 times a week, salmon 2 x week and maybe some cod & tuna. I am not eating the bread every day like you, maybe twice a week 1 slice of seed sensations Hovis and a 1/2 Jacket potato is ok me. I may have to follow your lead I have never counted the Carbs I have all I know its low and my weight is still dropping. I can't move out of this regime as I had 4 new potatoes and a little pastry with gravy the other day, shot up to 11.3

I think you have reinforced for me, I'm not to far away from what I should be doing.
Thanks Neil
I can't move out of it either. I may be in the normal range but that's only by virtue of good control. I don't consider myself non diabetic and I hope I'm not taken off the books after my visit to the DNS on the 30th. I don't really know what to expect.
Good look on your journey. I'm sure you'll do well. :-)

Hiya everyone, not posted for a few days as I've felt pretty down in the dumps, mainly due to the anniversary of my dads passing & trying still to get my head round been Diabetic. It's 2.5 months since I was diagnosed but I feel like it's just now really dawned on me. Guess the whole lifestyle change etc has started to kick in!! :-(

My GL levels for the past few days have been the same, mid to high teens with a few in the low 20's, first readings in the morning.

Got appointment with my DSN tomorrow, not looking forward to it after last months visit!! (Ambulance was called to the surgery because of my GL levels, Ketones, rapid heartbeat & high BP - 9 days spent in hospital!!!) :-(

So fingers crossed for me please that all will be OK & I can report back to you with positive news & hopefully not from a hospital bed!!! :-/

Hope you all are well & taking good care of yourselves. :-)

Hope it all goes well for you Louleelou, and you get to talk about your concerns with the DSN and get things sorted. I find writing my questions and concerns on paper and taking this with me really helps x

Awww, many thanks to all who have replied.

Yes, @Rose28 I've already got my list of questions/requests wrote down for the DSN. Very good advice though for any Newbie. :)

Since joining this Forum a weeks ago, I'd just like to say your information, guidance, understanding, knowledge but most of all your support has been amazing. It's so very much appreciated & I'm so very grateful. Your a great blooming bunch! :)

(Noticed on my last post my *smilies* are not working again, just sometimes - I'm not emotionless as I love my emojis but seems the Gremlins on here love me more!!) :)

Edit: Hmm, smilies worked then??? Told you it's the Gremlin!! LOL!! x
