You will NOT believe this but as soon as I read your message I got up to walk outside to calculate the travels and my wife Laurel said B4 I even reached the front door "are you checking your lap distance"? ..... no kidding.

Too funny.

5000 yards + :)

These women seem to know every move a man makes spooky!

According to google that's 2.84091 miles nearly 3 miles, how long does that take? seems I'm going to have to get an accurate measurement for my walk now, I feel a bit of a competition coming on here.

I try to walk as fast as possible (not the ponsy walking what professionals do) and do it to 'time' rather than distance, i.e. 30mins, which means I am walking further now as I have got a lot faster.

Ask Santa for a pedometer.

Let's not give TOOO much away :)

For me, that's around 35 / 45 minutes ..... but I don't time it but I know I walk at a solid / brisk pace.

If I get up again now, Laurel will know ahead of me rising from the chair what you've asked me ... so here I'll stay :)

Nite mate

Mike :)

7.8 this morning - my best reading ever (I'm only in week two since diagnosis at 11.5.) It seemed to good to be true so I retested on the same finger one minute later - 10.5! What on earth?

I'm losing faith in this SD Codefree meter. I've asked for recommendations for a more accurate meter in the "questions" forum, but if anyone would like to suggest something here, that would be great.

Coke Kezz?? Mike :)
It was diet coke (well diet Pepsi)...I feel a bit like a spoilt child today... just want to lay on the floor kicking and screaming its not fair...I know I am the one controlling what i eat, but it seems even the stuff I thought was okay is causing me jip at the moment. My portion control has most likely crept up, but I'm feeling too fed up to care and old habits die hard. I need to have a serious talk with myself and then go back to basics. Especially has the weight hasn't shifted at all for about 8 weeks now. Still tomorrow is another day.. so hopefully the mood will pick up tomorrow and the BS will go down.

Anyway rant over... I'm off for a walk before lunch in the hope if will lift my mood and lower my BS.

My third day at 6.0 or 6.1. I guess I will blame my cold as my eating has not been too bad.

Nothing wrong with fasting levels in the 5's. They are normal. Try not to compare your readings with some of the others getting much lower numbers. We all have different "normal" levels, the majority of us are happy in the 5's.
Great point. I must admit I am comfortable now with a fasting figure of mid 5's for ME

SJ. Those words (which made me mist up a little bit) just made me even MORE determined. Thank YOU :)

More strength to do this :) Nite and sleep well Sable Jan

Mike :)

EDIT - Should have added this. Had to drop my fave foods (pizza and fries but only once a month anyhow), had to give up my fave drink (Guinness) dismiss any sweets so how hard can this be? I've survived the rest of it, feel a whole lot better for it and have you guys to thank for it :) Some members think I inspire others with what I've done?

No.

Reverse is the case.
Go Mike Go. You have the experience now. You will do it!! You do inspire thats part of why the sharing on here is sO important.

Rant as much as you like cos we all understand..... Hope the weather is dry for your walk. Just stopped raining here and wind quite mild but very miserable and grey so about to out my tree up and get the lights on it. Going to see if I can get 62 year old ones to work too....

7.3 before bedtime

8.3 this morning.

Haven't taken any panadol or cough medicine today... Yaaayyyyy

Hope everyone's having a great day! :)

Well I had a remarkably low 7.8 this morning compared to my recent rising average of approx 12.0
rising from approx 10,O over the last two months.
Tomorrow I go back for my HBAiC having re visiting my Doctor who is struggling to come up with a new course of action as
I am now on 62 units Levimir and 48 Novorapid spread over the day.
This is fairly evidently reducing its efficiency and may indeed stop working?.
Previously I suffered bad reactions on Lantus after an almost identical
rise from 14 units a day starting point, up to the 100 units plus after a couple of years. (approximate the same level I am on now.)
Problem is my system seems totally erratic and always has been .
With just a small bowl of bran flakes I achieved 14.2 reading 3 hours later prior to a salad lunch.
Then 14.7 just two hours after a salad.

IF their is anyone out there who has failed on the two insulins ? Can you please advise what you were put on after this.
To be honest I am fairly well aware of most of what is out there ie Byetta etc and also realize that their is no easy solution
to getting close to managing or improving my now long term situation.
ps Im not overweight, nor do I drink too much and I do a limited amount of excercise.

Dave

ps Im curious why Im marked as a NEW Member ? Have been aroiund for years and posted plenty of questions and answers plus a few poems...

Hi, Thanks for that, I have a mechanical pedometer, an omron, but I will download the 'S health' and try on my Android. I have and old Xperia Arc S but does not have a lot of space.

The last time I tried a ped App the battery was flat within a day, even got a new battery but made no difference.

I'll see how I get on

Neil

Welcome to the new faces I've spotted today, 3 I believe... The more the merrier. It's a madhouse on here ;-) but a very knowledgable one too :-).
And I forgot to say extremely friendly too :):):)

True. The Androids do use a lot of battery power as its using gps to track you on your walk and lots of other background activity. It does fitness programs on it, calorie counter, heartbeat and loads else. I like it cos I don't have to do anything it just monitors the steps automatically on my phone.
