Thank you very much Jan. The gigerbread one sounds divine. Will do some on line shopping later. Btw I don't buy or store any sweet temptations no more....aww
I CAN be restrained - most of the time ;). And learning one biscuit is ok but two a no-no

Has Adrian posted a pic of his new blingy meter ? Bet he is on his 10th test today lol. Btw I entered the compo for one too just for fun.
bling.jpg :D:D

Oh and while I'm at it....................

6.4 before brek
2 minutes later 6.2 after I sneezed
when I sneezed I broke wind...........5.8 :D:D:D

As for the competition, where does the fun bit come from when all you win is a finger pricker and meter:eek::D

6,1 mmol this morning

Unusually cold weather (for Cyprus that is) making it all a struggle.

I can't even begin to comprehend how people in places like Canada can cope. Guess they are made from sterner stock than us soft southerners.

Well, I can't say I don't envy you, Pavlos. I'll tell you how this wimpy Canadian managed this morning. The temperature is -12C with the windchill making it feel like -20. I took my three black labs to the dog park for just over an hour of brisk walking.

I wore long underwear, jeans, a sweater, a hooded sweatshirt, a scarf, a knitted hat, a coat with a hood, boots and mittens. I was generally warm enough, but when I. Had to take a mitten off at the end of the walk my fingers were bitterly cold in only a minute.

I dream of March when I can just grab a jacket and go.

I started the day at 5.2 then couldn't resist retesting on my other meter, 4.7. I'll live with the 5.2.

8.5 and shocked, two weeks of 5's and 6's during Christmas when I wasn't low carbing like I am now, I wasn't crazy but I was more relaxed. I reduced my dosage of metformin from 2000 mg to 1000 mg on Monday after I isolated this to be the cause of my constant flank pain. With 5's-7's consistent 2 hours pp with vigilant low carbing (in the 10's 2-3 pp after moderate carbs), I reduced my lantus insulin as I didn't want to go lower. I was SO excited yesterday, I honestly was thinking I had this under control. I know it is just one morning but it is like a slap in the face reminder that this will be with me forever.

I know nothing about insulin so can't comment on that. Maybe this is either just one of those blips we all get, or possibly a rogue reading from your meter, which we also all get, or maybe you are coming down with a cold or virus, or just stressing over something, or maybe you had a restless night? Morning readings depend on so many factors and are unreliable on the whole. I wouldn't worry. I would wait and see what happens over the next few days to see if it is an upward trend.

Metformin does help a little with liver dumps, which of course could have happened to you overnight or this morning because of halving your meds. Did you test at bedtime, and what were you? This may show if you had a liver dump or a restless night.

Before 30 mins phsyio 6.8 (yeah less than 7) after phsyio 6.2. Been naughty and had 1 jammie dodger from biscuit trolley. Finally got rid of antibiotic drip and starting oral antibiotic's at bed time.

Stick with it Cherryred it could be an error. I was in the 5-7 range until I changed my meter, now I'm getting readings of 5.9 - 8.8 but still eating and walking the same as before.

Thanks for sharing @Cherryred. Can't say abt meds,as I don't use them. Is liver dump possible? Or delayed reaction to reducing meds? Welcome to the thread/madhouse ;). Lots of friendly advice, and empathy too I shouldn't doubt.

Thanks you guys are so sweet. I appreciate your comments as I know you guys get it and I don't feel completely ridiculous sharing my feelings here. I tested 1 hour later after not eating and it was 8.7. It was 6.9 before bed. I think I did this to myself, I need to find the correct dosage of insulin/metformin. When I went to my last appointment Dec 22, my endo didn't flinch at 10-11mmol, 3 hours after eating moderate carbs ( less than 50g) and declared me T2 after getting just the insulin result back which showed my pancreas is still pumping out some insulin (of course it would show I have insulin when I am taking insulin as well) so I thought ok if I am T2 not LADA (which I doubt very much, I just need the other results in) then I will eat low carb and fix myself. I am not discounting what it means to be T2 at all. I was just happy to ditch the insulin and lower the metformin and eat my way to good numbers. Dumb. I just didn't want insulin for life, even though it really helped me and it was only basal. My delusional thinking appeared to work for a bit. I just read Lucy's post in LADA and I think she wrote it for me...ha ha just kidding but it sure made me think.

Sorry for hijacking. I just really needed to get this out. You guys are the best.

A steady 4.0 for me this morning after a broken night of hotel sleeping. The hotel was OK, it just wasn't my own bed, and of course we had to be up this morning to get Mr on his flight back to Paradise.

Oh, well. I have a couple of weeks to finish up some last minute jobs here, then I'll be back at the airport myself.

Hey, no apologies, we're here for each other and that includes YOU :)

Another higher than normal reading of 7.9 this morning on my new monitor but better than the 8.8 this time yesterday. I think the reason for the high this morning is that I snacked on something I really know I shouldn't have late last night, only because I felt really hungry. I've found just recently that I'm staying up a lot longer than I used to and starting to get those hunger pangs. Having said that, they are about 6 hours after my tea. So today I'm trying an experiment. Normal breakfast time, leave dinner until around 2pm instead of 12pm and then have my tea at around 8pm instead of 6pm. Test again tomorrow and post results.

Hi Adrian... it's worrying when you have that morning spike, I know... I'm still trying to bring mine down - 6.3 today... higher than I like, but I still have a bad sinus problem, so I'm hoping it's that... could you not make four meals a day and try not to go so long between eating? I know it's a pain trying to find something different all the time, but might it be worth a try? Maybe you're getting too empty?

6.2... Woke up late in blind panic with heart racing.
How horrid.... :( I had my one and only panic attack at 4 in the morning not long ago.. I researched it and it seems I ate too many histamine-full things in one day? Kiwi, pawpaw, almonds, almond bread, hazelnuts and kiwi... can't remember now... too many histamine-rich food can do all sorts to you.. I am not looking it up again in case I can't stop worrying about it... :)

Interesting. Kiwis make my mouth go watery and tingly, wonder if that's why......

@loulou99782 @Susikav

have you tried hemp milk?
I've used it for yoghurt with good results.

I can't say what it contains, or it's effects, it's just a passable alternative for me.
Please ensure you check it yourself :)
Thank you...I have hemp powder in my smoothies and shelled hemp seeds in my 'bread'... I know hemp is good for you, but I've never seen the milk - how interesting... I live in the ME so not likely to find it, although we get most things - that sounds a bit exotic though!
