Type 2's: What was your fasting blood glucose in a morning?

5.4 this morning, around my usual morning average so I'm fine with that.
Batch 44 was playing games again last night, had been in 5's all day, had less than 25gm carbs all day, of which less than 10 were evening meal....and it was giving me a 6 at bedtime, which I knew was wrong and once again proven by my morning low! So I deduce my bed time was more like a 5.5!!
@cold ethyl- my kit was under the duvet with me, and strangely enough this morning my normal cold room seems not so cold, it's even feeling slightly like a spring-is-on- the - way- morning here!!

I am now despondent, my morning walk / stroll with our old dog has always been very helpful in bringing my bs down. I have porridge for breakfast, tried yoghurt yesterday, not for me.
Bs after walk 8.4. Or. 9.2. Or 8.5 take your pick, 40 mins later. 7.2.
Still don't like this codfree meter, using up strips

Hope it goes quickly, but sounds like you need some antibiotics to help it. Good fasting figure considering.

It's only fasting if you have fasted for about 8 or more hours. Otherwise it's random or pre-meal.

Maybe try not testing until an hour after exercise? That's what I was advised to do and it seems good advice

I didn't test straight away, I wash up breakfast crocks first. :-(

No, my remaining batch 44 tubs are being sent back for analysis, at their request. Batch 61 now.
I am using batch S0314161 and I can't say I'm impressed

check the btch no on the actual pot- mine said 61 on box but the pots were all 44.
I was 6.5 on 44 before breakfast and 5.2 on batch 56. I know which one I'm taking.

Apart from a couple of rogue readings that were very obviously wrong (and this happens with all meters and all strips) I haven't had any problems with this batch so far. We have to remember they are only supposed to be accurate to within plus or minus 15%, as with all meters. When insulin isn't an issue, all we are looking for are trends up or down and acceptable consistency between readings, not complete accuracy.
What do you think your Codefree strips are doing wrong? Do they all read higher than you expected, or are they inconsistent?

Any subconscious stresses going on? You obviously have a hectic lifestyle, how are you sleeping? Watching the news stresses me - all the violence, corruption and stupidity in the world.

Cold weather is easily the best for exercise, at least you can warm up, with hot weather your body does not cool down.

)You will get that sort of variation with pretty much any meter @millysue
I get the same variation with my gluco rx and my other meters.
Stop worrying about it and repeat testing or you'll get sore fingers and worry too much.
Just take the one, trust it, it's only a guideline so you have an idea what's going on.
You'll eventually find a pattern and work out what's going on
I know it's hard. But it really is a very good little meter, with affordable test strips and reliability.
Just ignore all the fuss kicked up about the one batch of test strips that were dodgy.
It's not the norm.

In the scheme of things, millysue, you're still in the early days of your testing and learning, and whilst it is true the odd strip can give a rogue reading for no apparent reason, sometimes those "rogues" are explainable (e.g contaminated finger), and sometimes the diabetes diary throws in a curved ball and an inexplicably higher reading is truly high.
I would urge you to try to stop continually retesting. It's not always helpful, it can hurt, and each test costs money. The Codefree is a great, value piece of kit. If you look back through the forum, there have been posters who have gone through no end of makes of meters, and pretty much found the same thing for them all; except it cost them three times as much to find that out!
Diabetes isn't an exact condition. Food A + Exercise B doesn't necessarily result in Result C. Over time, it might result in a band of results (for example, my fasting routinely runs between 3.5-4.5), so unless I have something outrageous going on, I'll accept a reading in that range, even if my feeling is it should be a bit lower or higher.
I think I was perversely luck when I was diagnosed and began testing. I had just come abroad for a number of months and brought my supplies for that period (based on x tests per day and a few spares), so there was no way I could indulge the level of retesting I see here. But, it made me accept the regime I describe a few lines ago, and it hasn't done me any harm.
Yes, this batch ending 4144 has been a bit "special", but is a rarity when you consider how many strips we must use collectively, even just via this forum. The thing is, we never spout ad nauseum when we have a batch returning great scores, we just lap the scores up and smile inwards.
Diabetes is a mental, as well as physical battle. Don't make it harder for yourself than it has to be.
