I have suffered with depression since age 14 (now in mid 50s) and was diagnosed diabetic 5 yrs ago. I realised that the metformin made my depression a lot worse. I also have M.E. and fibromyalgia and pain killing medications for that can make the depression worse too (such as meloxicam - brilliant stuff, I could do a cartwheel(!) but it made me what to curl up and die). Also, certain antibiotics make the depression worse, and even some kinds of foods - especially sweeteners (I can only have Truvia). So maybe look at your diet and the meds you're taking. Also, the menopause wasn't easy to get through, given that I already suffered from depression. I've had a couple of courses of CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) which have helped, and am on a course atm called 'Living with Long-Term Illness' which is proving very helpful - it's run by IAPT (Increased Access to Psychological Therapies). I also find the Mood Scope webside run by MIND very helpful - you can chart your mood if you want to - I was amazed at how life cercumstances actually affect my mood, which is easily seen when I look at my graph. Anyway, I hope a few of these suggestions may be of help. Hang on in there.I am going to the doctors next week to discuss how I'm feeling which ain't good really. Could you discuss your bipolar with me ??
You will have to make a few more posts @zebs. It used to be sixteen posts before the facility was available but it may have changed. I will tag @Administrator @Giverny
