I'm having one of those days :(

I woke up with unexpectedly high blood sugar...12.9 and have spent the last several hours trying...unsuccessfully to bring back into range...doesn't seem to matter how much insulin I take...by rights my BG should be through the floor by now...but alas...NO...still in double figures with absolutely no sign of budging. I'm starving hungry but refusing to eat until I can at least get into single figures...not that I have the energy or inclination to go and prepare something anyway :(

I've recently had some new furniture delivered and having been planning all week that I would use this weekend to have a really good sort out and a spring clean...but feeling so poxy...I can barely shift myself off the sofa. Tempted to go back to bed in the hopes that I'll wake up in a few hours and it'll all be good again...but had that much insulin...scared I won't wake up...this sucks.

Sorry for having such a rant...but I do feel slightly better for letting off steam :)

I had one of these days a couple of weeks ago so can commiserate with you, it seems some days my body just doesn't recognise my insulin or take it up, it can be a right bummer. Hope you feel better soon....

I'm having one of those days :(

I can only offer my sympathy...I was there last week. Mine was caused by unusually physically demanding weekend. Oh ay..no funny thoughts allowed! ;):angelic:
Anyhow...that resulted to higher readings than normal....and I could not get them down. And then one morning...my body corrected the situation...and same time my life had returned back into normal routine.
I wonder if gentle exercise would help...maybe a good steady walk...it would help you body to sensitize for the insulin and use up that energy. I know it is a push when you already feel rubbish...but certainly worth of trying...

@Natalie1974 I sometimes have days like that, and they're so annoying!

I too never want to eat when my BS is out of range, but from experience I've found that eating some carbs and bolusing for them actually pushes my BS back on track quicker. It seems my body needs that food and bolus else it stays stuck on high. I'm not saying this is the same for you, but I'm mentioning it as something to think about.

I always correct by pen if I have highs like this. Not so much because I think my pumps not working, but because I then feel happier about it - so psychological really.

Thanks everyone:)

It's a crazy thing isn't it...just over a year ago...these kind of readings were very much the norm for me and I don't really recall thinking anything of it at the time...I just got on with it. It seems inpossible to me looking back...and considering how rough I feel right now...just how much I actually did manage to achieve at such high levels. I suppose you just get used to feeling that way. If I know anything though...it's that I never want to go back to my old ways...I like feeling normal too much :)

I've rallied myself a little...finally got myself moving and managed to put my poor stomach out of it's misery...I feel a little better for it...now down to 11.2 ...honestly don't remember the last time I had such high readings...the highest I've been in months was around 12...but had a 19.6 this morning. It's just so frustrating...I had so many plans for the day...want to be getting up and getting on with it...not sitting around feeling rough, Think I'm just going to have to write today off...tomorrow is another day...and hopefully a better one:)

@Natalie1974, worth changing your insulin cartridges/pens if your bg levels don't improve.

Hope your day improves :)

Try and eat something as you can get starvation ketones

spooky @Natalie1974
same for me today -- started going high last night at 10pm -- went to bed at 11:20 on a 12.1

16.3 this morning ( so massive corection of 8.35u ) still only down to mid 11's by lunch time and I haven't eaten yet

so finally decide to eat and while the bolus is going in can start to semell insulin ( and adhesive a bit damp

so early pod change at 1pm

and not sure how much of bolus has made it in -- so have been letting things settle this afternoon

about to check now to see if back into single figures -- hopw so !!
