Type1. Could anyone help figure out how this has happened?

This morning I was up at 7am, as it's a Saturday we tend to have a late breakfast at around 11am.

Anyway, I checked my BM at 7am and it was absolutely fine at around 5ish...
I noticed a small drop at around 6am but from experience know that the freestyle libre tends to exaggerate low sugars (i..e it says 3.5 when actually 5.5)

Anyway, 3 hours later, after taking in no food or any exercise (simply doing a bit of work on the computer) this is the result I get. I just can't understand how this can happen, any advice welcome.

I believe it is your liver helping you out. It thinks your fasting so its topping u up.
Do you have your liver function tested regularly?
Liver dump (dawn phenomenon) can occur in times of fasting. Shift workers are often working and eating at dawn so it happens in times of enduring sleep/rest.

How long have you been T1?

Did you do a retest? Did you wash your hands well before testing? (I've been shocked by one or two high tests too).

Sorry @buzzmonkey I should have added your adrenaline has encouraged a high here too.
Your body found your activity stressful in a time of fasting.
I get this all the time. Exercise rockets my bgs.

Hi @buzzmonkey
you don't mention any insulin in all of your post

are you on MDI or pump ??
and when do you take your basal insulin if on MDI ??

could you have forgotten it the previous evening ??

Could well be the drop in bg levels at 6am, I found the Libre to be more accurate at lower levels than high, but can I ask do you usually find that your bg levels rise when you don't have breakfast?

The reason why I ask is I experience a liver dump if I don't eat upon waking, I see this when I fast for a cholesterol check, my bg can be in range when I wake but be in double figures 2-3 hours after if I don't take a bolus dose, by having breakfast I can prevent the liver dump and control my bg levels far easier that way.

Thanks for the tips guys, in answer to your questions. I've been T1 since '97, I'm MDI and my basal is at 7pm, I'm pretty sure i didn't miss it as I have a calender reminder go off every day to remind me and I also have timsulin which I've checked and can see that I last did it around then.

It makes sense that it's the liver dawn phenomenon, I guess I was just surprised at how high it could go!

Cheers,

That was quite a dump.
I'm similar to ickihun as I need to eat when I get up or I sky rocket. No BF fasting for me.
