I am 21 and type 1, for the past two months I have been struggling with complete loss of vision/hearing every time I stand up, whether it's getting out of bed or getting out of the car. I feel as though I'm on the brink of passing out and occasionally it takes up to 6 or 7 hours for my vision to completely return to normal.

My last hba1c was 8.1. I check every time I have one of these spells and my sugar is always in range. I have also had regular blood pressure checks and nothing seems abnormal. Help!!! Has anyone else experienced this?

Hi @kieraw ,

Welcome to the forums.

I'm not sure what kind of help you're looking for here? I'd say go back to your doctor and demand referral to a specialist for a thorough investigation. You cannot continue like that.

That is definitely a GP visit, advice here would only be speculation, these are pretty serious so please have a good once over by a doc.

Take care :)

Most definitely get seen by a Dr asap @kieraw I'd also stop driving until your given the all clear or your symptoms are controlled. Best wishes.

This sounds like Orthostatic Intolerance, though a recovery time of 6-7 hours is extreme. Basically blood pressure or pulse pressure drop when standing, and heart rate might become very fast. You really need to see your doctor ASAP.

Definitely see your doctor @kieraw You need to find out what's causing that and get it sorted. It sounds horrible.

@noblehead 's advice to,stop driving is very sensible too

My consultant diagnosed postural hypotension IE low blood pressure on standing by making me lie down for five minutes then taking BP on standing. Straight sitting BP won't show the problem. Definitely worth pursuing with doctor. Good luck with it

You gotta check your doctor as fast as possible bro , this is seriously abnormal..

Being sent for tests for Addison's disease as a low cortisol showed up on blood test.. fingers crossed this is what's up and can start to be treated...

Thank you for the update @kieraw

I hope you get an answer soon.
