One more thing, make sure you don't run out of lantus when you get home and have to wait to see your GP. (Will you have to self isolate for a fortnight?). Insulin is not something that you can afford to skip for 24 hours.

this morning my fasting BSL down to 10.1, can honestly say Ive never seen these numbers so its fantastic, I will push to get as much testing done here before I return, Thanks again!

Look you aren't necessarily T1 (I'm biased to assume that) but it's great that the insulin is working and in your position I'd push for the testing. You haven't got anything to lose and the treatment for T1 and insulin dependent T2 is genuinely different. Just be aware that many GPs are clueless about anyone who isn't T2 (and you may be T2) so you may need to push for a referral to an endocrinologist if your cpeptide is low and/or your GAD is positive,

Correction, a positive GAD guarantees T1/LADA but some T1/LADA don't show up on the GAD test.

I was originally diagnosed 12 years ago when working as an expat in Singapore. I was referred to a specialist endocrinologist by my GP. At first he recommended using insulin to get my BGs under control (HbAc1 was 13.6 at diagnosis) and to allow some beta cell regeneration if possible. After 3 months my HbAc1 was down to 7.0. Then had GAD (high) and c-peptide (low) which confirmed me as a Type 1 and trying to stop injecting insulin was no longer an option. But it should be straightforward to get more tests and advice there.

I had the same sort of problems as you. I just couldn't control blood sugar - it was so erratic. It could go as high as 18 then fall right down to 3.6. Turns out I was an undiagnosed celiac. This means that I have unpredictable absorption which makes it very difficult to control blood sugar. I was unaware I was a celiac, I had no symptoms apart from indigestion.
