An awful lot.
Trying to decide if l should be angry  or chuffed

At my first HBa1c in feb my DN said she wished any of her people was doing as good as me. if l wanted a HBa1c every 3 or 6 months while l settled in not a problem l didn't have to see her for the results we could do it over the phone.

I work all over the country but every so often l have a day off so my next weekday is the June 2nd.. great dentist and bloods on same day, ring nurse for results a few days later.
Not a hope when l finally got through the receptionist who just didn't get it.. my co worker was curled up in hysterics at my side of the conversation (very helpful what is it my husband does the same thing when l get angry at the Dr) l got finally put through to the nurse cause the receptionist got so confused o_O

The nurse said said no l couldn't have one when l wanted at start of June and ring for results even though my birthday is the end of June. I had to wait till my birthday and l could have it and a review then and go in and see her. The reason behind this is that my control is so good she isn't worried about me. I explained then it wouldn't be till July that l got a chance and even then it would be the end of July at the earliest... not a problem. l wanted to back up my meter results.. told no need stop worrying!
My bloods are always between 4.5 and 5.7 l am very strict with myself but l did want a back up to know it is going well for those times l haven't taken them if that makes sense?

I am also as far as l know the only type 2 who gets their sticks through the surgery they wont supply to type 2. l know l am weird but l can not decide if l should get angry l can not have an HBa1c or be pleased she is so relaxed and happy with how l am doing

Both really! Good that they recognise your great control, irritating at the mad bureaucracy of the booking system.

Very irritating, I'd agree.

If you are exceptionally keen to have this done, in your own time frames, you could have a private test done. There are lost of options available for a bit less than £100. When I just googled, I was surprised how many options I found.

I've just recently had another diabetic profile run, outside the UK, for the equivalent of £60. The only thing I didn't get was the HDL/LDL breakdown of my cholesterol numbers.

Just to add; when I googled, there is one site, who use Spire hospitals as effectively their (blood) collection agents, with a fee waiver for May. You appear to order up, and pay, online, they email you your test "passport" and arrange with Spire to do the tests, and they email you the results directly My local Spire, in the UK do phlebotomy until 20:30 weekdays, and 12:30 on a Saturday. Versus your day rate and convenience, it could be worth considering. I know i will when I'm back in UK and much busier than I am now.

For the avoidance of doubt, I have no connection with any of these, just have an interest in making my own diabetes management mine, and not hog-tied by small minded beaurocratic/budgetary hassle.

If I'm going to be stuck with thing, I'll throttle it by the neck in my own inimitable style.

Flounce, stage left................. Diva styleeeeee. :angelic:
