Understanding the numbers

I had an egg bite for breakfast. It is a thing here in Canada. It’s egg peppers onions basil cottage cheese bacon and or cheese baked in the over. It has zero carbs and a good amount of protein. My bs was 8.2 two hours after. I went on stressful errand then did an hour of heavy yard work. I thought my bs would be way down but it was 11.4. Very discouraging don’t know what to do.

Did you check the carb content on the pack of cottage cheese? Onions have carbs and so do peppers (onions more though). Plus stress often raises blood sugar.

Sounds delicious- but not no carb I’m afraid, it may be low carb depending on how much of the ingredients you used that contain carbs, that would be the peppers, onions, cottage cheese. Also stress and if the heavy work was lifting then both of those can raise your blood glucose.

Next time you make it weigh your ingredients and log the carbs and then test before eating and 2 hours after, maybe without your stress and yard work it may be ok.

I make similar but I go light on the onions and peppers, usually use spring onion and some onion powder and I use hard cheese grated as I find cottage cheese quite high in carbs.

Although I eat cottage cheese, have to be careful I don't go too mad (not easy for me). But the cottage cheese could have tipped it over.

The stress and the exercise would have caused me to rise. Try the egg bites again on another day when there's no stress or exercise
