And now everyone aged 40 and over (and not already receiving regular checks) is invited for a health check including an HbA1c. If they decline the invitation there is nothing that can be done.

Odd that the first notification of 'my annual health check' came at the age of 66 and six months after diagnosis as diabetic. I was having blood tests at the hospital for my defunct thyroid, as they could not do them at the clinic - but now that I am diabetic I no longer have to make the trip to the hospital, they can somehow now find the time and personnel to do them in the clinic.
