Pretty happy, I was due a face to face appointment with my new consultant. He’d asked when doing a phone appointment last May if I could go in next time so he could meet me. Very nice. Anyway the appointment was overdue but not urgent. The phone rings yesterday lunchtime, it was the clinic on the off chance I could make it in at ten am today. Crikey yes! Obviously people have been cancelling. Have got it in this year after all.
Have always been pleased with my care over the last twelve years and liked my previous consultant, but he is moving towards retirement. He was the one who saw me after admittance to the ward from A+E. He stood next to my bed and said, I don’t have my patients in hospital they might catch something. Go home and I will see you in clinic in the morning. The never ending journey began.

Not been yet Tony. It’s this morning. Will let you know. He sounded great and very up to date on the phone last year. I was in clinic to do a trial earlier this year and the nurse said he was lovely.

I always ask to be considered for cancellations for ops/appts at the hospitals. One day I got a phone call at 1pm asking if I could make it to the hospital for 2.15pm. Luckily I live close by so accepted!

Well, all went well. A really lovely man. Very supportive and complimentary. Young and enthusiastic. Basically told me to just continue doing what I’m doing as results are excellent.
Did find out my HbAc when diagnosed. One hundred and ten. No wonder I felt ill.
