Morning all,

I woke at 6.30 am with CGM alarming bg was below 3.1

last night I ate at 7.30pm had 2 slices of toast beans and eggs (40g carbs) 11.2 bg at the time.

6.40am 3.1 carton of Juice (20g carbs)
6.55am 2.8 half a spoon of liquid glucose (10-15g)
7.10am 5.4
8.15am 7.4 cup of tea
10am 7.9 (4 doritos by accident and cup of tea)

I've forgotten to bring lunch so interested to see how bg stay. Any opinions on the above?

@CarbsRok thoughts?

I was told not to change anything from one days readings and test again the following day before making changes to the basal rate @Engineer88, was this morning a one-off or have you seen low bg levels quite a bit upon waking?

No @noblehead this is happening 2/3 times a week now, I've already dropped basal by 0.075 from 5-7 am.

I'm still having low issues which is why I have started looking a bit more closely at things (awaiting delivery of pumping insulin book)

EDIT: also I was told to not make changes unless its an overnight hypo which I would say this is :)

Well it would make sense to reduce the basal rate again so that you don't hypo on waking, the usual advice is to reduce it 2 hours before the hypo occurs so in your shoes I'd be looking to do this around 4-4.30am, run it past your pump DSN if your unsure what to do.

When Pumping Insulin arrives it has an excellent section on basal testing and adjustments, can't recommend the book enough :)

Good luck and hope you get sorted.

I'm sorry, I can't comment on your insulin, but i am LOVING the idea of the 'accidental doritos'.

Don't you hate it when that happens?
:D

Why are you lowering basal between 5-7am when you are already low by those times.

If I was low-say 3.8 at 5,47am I know my levels would have started to drop a good while before that, so I would have been changing 3am and also possibly 2am.

I never used to take my basal changes as 2 hours before an actual low reading. As that does not allow anything for the period in which it was actually dropping,

If you got a cgm then you should amend the Basil's from the from the readings and the graphs...when the levels started to drop... Not from when the alarm occurs...

I was always told no basal test if hypo doesn't matter if day or night. Eating doritos wouldn't have helped your blood sugar as not gluten free.

I was under the impression that the blue ones were OK from ingredients?? Also it wasn't meant to be basal test but I wanted to see if it would drop like a rock again without eating something carby snack wise :(

@Engineer88, tonight why don't you test your bg at 2 and say 4-5am to see when your bg is dropping, this will help you work out when to adjust your basal rates.
