Unreal HBA1C result

Hi there

I was diagnosed t2 back in August and had an Hba1c performed, this came back with a result of 6.8

4 months on, and nearly 4 stone lost with a radical change in diet I just got my second test result, it was quoted in a different format as 38. Now running that through the converter i get 5.6

Have i screwed up the conversion or do I have real cause to give myself a pat on the back? :D

You really do have cause to congratulate yourself. Congratulations from me too!

If they caught you early (which it looks like - 6.8 isn't desperately high) then weight loss and a change of diet, particularly controlling your carb intake, works wonders.

I came down from 6.5 to 5.6 in my first 3 months.

Well done! but don't relax - you can have a small celebration tonight  but it's all too easy to slip back into old habits - just like I did at Christmas

I bet you feel lots better, too. Again, very well done.

Thanks! I feel an awful lot lighter on my feet and have been sleeping a lot better too.

If anything this just spurs me on to keep going with dropping the weight and getting the numbers even more controlled :D

Hi, definetely give yourself a pat on the back ... x
All your efforts and work have certainly paid off with a result like that!
Well done you ... x
On another angle with this , could you tell us HOW you achieved the weight loss as in as many months, it would help and inspire others reading this.

Basically I have ditched the large carb intake totally. I only eat brown rice, pasta and bread now and the portion sizes of those are tiny. Bear in mind that I was at 23.5 stone (6'1'' and large build) so losing that amount of weight that quickly was actually really easy. I found the first month really hard work, the hunger pangs were terrible to start off with, but they soon subside and you find that your appetite comes under control. When I look at what I used to put into my body, its actually really quite shocking (and not at all surprising that I ended up T2).

I can say that its slowed down a lot now, but its still coming off at a reasonable rate (1-2 lbs a week).

I've also taken up Win Chun, which is getting me active. The trick is to stick at it and having a group of friends constantly surprised (and congratulating you) on how much weight your losing is a definite plus point. The doctor was probably the best with this, when I went in to see him last time he actually said "Jesus you have lost a lot of weight, get on them scales!" :)

Stick at it, work through the hunger pangs and it DOES come off. I've still got a long way to go (another 4-5 stone), but at least I can start to see the finishing line now.

Will post some recipies i've come up with for some exceptional green curry, its filling, low in carbs and best of all tastes like heaven :)

What an inspiration!
I've been struggling getting things under control agin recently and stories like yours make all the difference in wanting to get back to it and do something about those darn numbers.

Well done Ian.
