Need some advice if anybody could offer any? On the 17th and 24th January I have collapsed and had a seizure. But I know they are not hypos (have been type 1 for 23 years) first time I was stood in my kitchen watching a programme on my tablet when I started to get a tingly feeling travelling from my forehead down my face then I felt dizzy and that's the last thing I remember. Next thing its 5 hours later and I'm lying on my sofa with blood all over my dressing gown and my partner told me I had fitted then gone unconscious and it had taken him and my brother in law to pick me up to move me. Second time I was sat in the front room with my partner and our son (who's 3) when I got up to go into the kitchen when the same tingly feeling and dizziness occured. My partner sat me down and attempted to give me a bottle of come but I couldn't move or speak for a moment then I passed out again and had a seizure. My blood has been normal level not long before both occasions so I have no clue what could be causing these. Can anybody help?? Thankyou and sorry its so long.

you need to go to the Dr's asap about this, Ive been Diabetic for 43 years and not had an episode like that wasn't a hypo

Did your Partner not call for an ambulance or medical assistance? No one here can offer any medical advice as to what happened. If you drive please don't do so until you have been checked out in case it happens again at the wheel of a car.

As others have said, no one really wants to hazard a guess as to what is causing your episodes. Obviously with a diabetic the most likely culprit is low blood sugar, but you are certain it isn't that, so it will be necessary for the Dr. to dig a little deeper.
I have this myself which is why your description raised a few flags fpr me.
I have postural hypotension -that's low BP when you stand up, which you said you did- an autonomic nervous system complication of long term diabetes. Basically you have a postural drop of your blood pressure which makes you pass out, and the fall restores your equilibrium. Now I have never had a seizure with this condition, so that is good for you. I am certainly not saying you have it too, but it goes to show not everything is hypo related. Also it is very easy to check out, during his exam he should do a sitting and standing blood pressure, to be completely thorough, blood pressures on both arms (I mention this for completeness as post operatively following some intense eye surgery I felt quite low tingly , spaced out etc, and the nurse changed arms and the difference was astounding. Even using an auto machine V manual can make a difference, so definitely things need to be excluded. Go see your Doctor, please :)

Is your partner capable of doing a blood test- my hubby and my friends have all practised on me and know what to do to check my blood....if he saw me unconscious it is without a doubt the first thing he would do... Then call an ambulance...
You most definitely need to see a GP. Especially with a youngster around.....and being in a kitchen when one occurred?? This is too dangerous situation and really needs medical advice.

Your partner though should be able to do a reading to check your blood though...

Have been to see my local gp but was no help what so ever as expected. Have been referred to a seizure specialist and have received an appointment for the 9th of may to see the specialist and have been booked in to also have an MRI and eeg to see if they can figure out what is going on. Have had 3 more seizures since I posted and my partner did test my blood and it was never below 6 and highest was 11.3 so I know for sure its not hypos. Have been having some weird episodes of going tingly, dizzy and then remaining awake and not being able to talk or control my body for a few minutes. And feeling like my brain iusnt connected to my body because I can't talk or do anything so am still in the dark about what could be going on =/

Sounds horrendous. I hope specialist can sort it. Can you rule out a TIA?

I would be pushing (i.e. calling daily and demanding) an appointment earlier than 9 May. 5 seizures in such a relatively short time accompanied by other neurological symptoms, suggest to me you need help solving this mystery sooner rather than later.

Yes have called the secutary a few times and asked for something such as a cancellation or anything but no luck yet after I was referred I got a letter saying they had no appointments and would send the me the next one available. Which was the 9th may so am still trying to see if I can get anything earlier.

Oh mini stroke., yes that did cross my mind with all the symptoms I have been having but don't know wether to go to the gp or not or whether they'll just send me off to the hospital again?

Whatever it is, flame999, it needs investigating and then a process of elimination to find out what it may be.

I presume they would need some sort of treatment in the end so may have to ask my gp again or ask to see another gp.

Yes have been unable to leave the house alone with my child so may ring the gp again tomorrow and ask to be seen again. Was thinking of ringing 111 and seeing if they suggest I go to a+e to maybe see if I could be admitted and seen??

It does seem like something that needs investigating as a matter of urgency. Maybe A&E if you don't get any joy from the GP.
