I Don, t feel very well. constant dry mouth, thirsty and generally not myself. Rang the Dr, s and appointments have gone but spoke to the gp on the telephone. He said wait until I have my blood test on the 30th. That way he said that he can get a more accurate result

It's a long time to wait when you feel rough, be kind to yourself (in other words be a bit selfish) hope you feel better soon

@ally1 , Sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. It must be worrying to have to wait so long for information or help from GP. Can't they bring forward the blood test? That way your mind will be put at ease sooner.
I hope it passes swiftly and you feel better soon. xx

I had a blood test about 5 weeks ago and Dr said it was too early to have another one. Plus my bs levels have risen dramatically

I have recently started increasing my stelazine and that's when my bs levels started increasing. Just wish the Dr and pdoc would work together to find drugs that work together

Oh Ally its so hard to get drugs and health professionals working together...

However, are you still testing? I suspect with thirst and symptoms you describe that your levels are raised again into double figures?

It may be an idea to see your DSN at Practice and go over your readings and she would be able to recommend perhaps a different tablet or increase in current meds for diabetes.

A GP should not just look at hba1c... If you have proof of your readings (even if you've been told not to test!!) and in double figures then they need to tackle this...

Sending you a huge hug @alli1 Do you have a CPN? they are often more able to help since their having access to pdoc most days. Sorry your GP isn't more help, they're not the ones who are suffering! I often say to my husband "If my name was Elizabeth Windsor instead of Elizabeth....... I bet I wouldn't have to wait this long" Sorry we can't help you in a more practical way but we're all rooting for you x

I have a rare surname and hubby and mum in law used to work at the local hospital. So every time I need to see someone I get seen very quickly. GP practice is the same as they know us and know I wouldn't go if it could be sorted out at home.

Ally - maybe I got up grumpy this morning, but so be it, because I'm not feeling much sympathy for your GP here. Frankly, I would say, if you are feeling unwell enough to be calling him, out of the blue, then he surely has a duty of care yo ensure you are well enough to wait until the end of March for your next bloods.

I know I can be a wicked old witch and very grumpy at times, and you are a much gentler soul, it seems, but if you could try drinking plenty to try to help with your sugars a bit, but if you get to this evening and still feel as unwell as you did to make you call your doctor, I would consider calling the out of hours service, or whatever you have where you live.

I'm afraid if I were with you, I would be making a bit of a fuss right now.

What sort of numbers are your bloods running at at the moment?

my numbers average 15 before meals and average 18 after meals so they are high. I will try and see if I can get an earlier appointment for my blood test.

I have rung my surgery and told the receptionist how I, m feeling and that my blood levels have gone haywire. Lo and behold, I have got in Monday for my hca1 blood test. Thank god I was pushy

Good for you Ally, but do look after yourself very carefully with numbers like that alongside the medication you're taking. Your body will be working very hard at the moment.

Noticed your fasting levels are usually double figures in the morning

You have my empathy with this and hope you can turn things around

Had my blood tests yesterday. Yesterday at 4pm, I tested and was 27. Far too high so when results come back, my gp will do something
