UPDATE TO TRYING TO GET A METER

I've used over, 300 strips on the codefree, it disagrees with my other two meters that are always close to each other on at least 75% of checks.

I just can't take it seriously as all it does is cause anxiety.

Not for me, I'll stick with the tee2 and accu mobile.

Interesting, as I always find the Accu check mobile a bit light. On your above post I got the Tee2 (nothing to lose really) the Tee2 and SD codefree using same blob of blood has given me near identical figures (6.1 and 6.2) I will continue to use the 2 in tandem for a few days

There is of course every possibility that it could be test strip related and not the actual meter.

As said, it is miles different up to 75% of the time for me, the other 25% it is close or matches, again leaning towards QC issues with the codefree strips.

Interested to hear your findings in the coming days.
 
After reading this thread i too have ordered the Tee2 and await delivery. I have found the code free a bit hit or miss lately , each new pot of strips seems to read different from the one before. I have tested this opening 2 pots and testing same drop of blood on a strip from each pot and having reading of say 5.8 on one and 7 on another.

This is exactly my experience too. I do not get this variation with the tee2 and it is always in line with my accucheck.

A capable meter and the strips don't break the bank.

Some of my strips didn't turn up within 2 days either so spirit health care sent out replacements without question.

Positive experience all round with the Tee2 for me.

Good afternoon @Jamesuk9 and thank you my friend my Tee2 arrived to day its in a cracking case and and I haven't opemed it yet but will set it up later:)

Two two reading just to see the difference SD Codefree 6.3 Tee 2 5.4 it must mean something, perhaps it was the mars bar I eat between tests(only joking;)

I had a nightmare last night a giant custard doughnut was chasing me:D

An all day breakfast jumped up and I ate the lot!todaybg 10.7, god your funny
 
When fist diagnosed I was told that the surgery would not supply a meter so I brought one with all the strips etc, then 2 weeks ago I saw our diabetic nurse who gave me a machine provided by the health service as this could be calibrated and they supplied everything and this is now on repeat for me, post code lottery I think. demand one from your surgery

I have one for myself but Geoff has rarely seen a doctor in the 37 years we have been together,lucky so and so and he wouldn't demand but I would, I have to go and see the doctor in a few weeks and I will do it then.
In the mean time the nurse gave him two now obsolete meters which had strips and lancets in the boxes so they will get him through until I see doctor. Thanks for the advice it is very welcome.

You get the lot William but has previously mentioned my hubby cannot get one,I think because I've not been controlled they gave me a replacement when my other broke.
 
@Granny_grump_ -I used to just get Test Strips and Lancets free on prescription because I always bought my own meter. Then 2 years ago got a letter from Doctors Surgery saying No more free test strips/lancets on prescription due to NHS Cutbacks.
So, I could accept/use the Free Meter the Practise was offering me complete with free Strips and Lancets? So I opted to use the Practice one.
I only get it free because I am using Insulin.

I fully understand when your on insulin and agree your needs must come first,but if we could regulate our BG reading we wouldn't have has many health needs and no medication. It just sounds common sense to me help people to help themselves and save money in the long term. What's best no help and lifetime of problems or a more healthy life.

My SD meter reads 1,2 mmol/l high compared to other meters I have tried. I now accept this offset amd make allowance for it. Generally I would not use it for making decisions with, but it tells me if I get a misread or bad batch of strips (which has happened a couple of times now) It is my sanity check, thats all, but its the cheapest meter to run.
 
The Tee2 is as cheap virtually and is possibly more accurate. Also the meter kit, data lead, software on cd and 2 spare batteries all come free when ordered from spirit's web site.

Edit to add mine arrived this morning.
