Teddybear, were you previously running very high BGs? I'm asking because 4.1 is a normal BG level as is 5.5. Although you might get hypo symptoms at 4.1 and might decide to take action in case the Glic lowered it any further, there isn't any immediate danger from BGs at that level. 5.5 is nowhere near a hypo - it's a good solid BG level and the one many of us would like to maintain. You would get hypo symptoms at levels like this if you are used to running your BG too high and your body is adjusting to the new normal levels - that's called a false hypo. If you ignore them, they go away as your body realises that it's supposed to run at those sorts of level. Obviously, if your Glic dose is too high, it could drop you into a real hypo, so you would need to test regularly and ask the doctor to reduce the dose if that was happening. 8.8 is too high - it's not too bad for two hours after a meal, but it's certainly too high for any other time.
I'm surprised the doc has removed the Glic altogether, I would have expected a decrease in dose and regular monitoring.
