hi I wander if anyone can help I had a hypo in work on Monday with a sugar level of 4.1 3hrs after eating then I was on glic 40mg twice a day went dr and took me off them so I have had nothing since. Been a little on the low side since but today been in town shopping again started to feel hot sweaty and shaky so came straight home and tested and 5.5 4 hrs after breakfast and after checking bloods 2 hrs after breakfast and was 8.6 it seems that no matter what I eat at the moment im hitting lower sugars im eating more now than I have ever eaten can someone please help im type 2

my breakfast was 2 Weetabix and a banana and coffee and then an apple whilst in town with coffee with friend just had bacon egg and beans with wholemeal toast

This is certainly strange. All I can suggest is to stay off the meds as the GP has recommended and keep checking your bloods 2 hours after meals. It sounds like your diabetes has currently receded but I'm afraid I can't help explain why

I have stopped the meds and having blood tests next week last tablet I took was Monday morning how long do the tablets take to come out the body and should I contact the dr again as this is worrying me im due to go back to work tomorrow where it is difficult to leave the shop floor and have something to eat other than breaks

5.5 and 8.5 aren't low enough to worry about too much. There may have been some Glic left in the system. Stay off meds until you next speak to doc. My guess is your BG levels will slowly creep up. Hope I'm wrong. Keep testing.

just checked bloods again and it has gone up to 8.8 so will check again on the 2 hr after meal mark

Teddybear, were you previously running very high BGs? I'm asking because 4.1 is a normal BG level as is 5.5. Although you might get hypo symptoms at 4.1 and might decide to take action in case the Glic lowered it any further, there isn't any immediate danger from BGs at that level. 5.5 is nowhere near a hypo - it's a good solid BG level and the one many of us would like to maintain. You would get hypo symptoms at levels like this if you are used to running your BG too high and your body is adjusting to the new normal levels - that's called a false hypo. If you ignore them, they go away as your body realises that it's supposed to run at those sorts of level. Obviously, if your Glic dose is too high, it could drop you into a real hypo, so you would need to test regularly and ask the doctor to reduce the dose if that was happening. 8.8 is too high - it's not too bad for two hours after a meal, but it's certainly too high for any other time.

I'm surprised the doc has removed the Glic altogether, I would have expected a decrease in dose and regular monitoring.

thanks smidge the 8.8 was an hour after eating as I wanted o see if it had come up due to check again in about 30 mins. im surprised to that they took me off glic she said it all could be that I have had 3 months of steroids for asthma probs and now my body could be getting into a normal rhythm or the tablets are sending my body into over drive my last hba1c was 83 with a glucose level of 38. something when I started the tablets I was 17.7

hi,
i wouldnt like to advise on that one as some of us find exercise lowers bloods, some find it highers ,if u do go i would suggest regular testing
