I am on holiday and before I went away my Libre sensor and monitor had been working fine. Soon as I tested when I was abroad and it keeps telling me I’m LO all the time when I scan when I’m not. I took a few strips and my finger prick just in case so can see that my sensor is showing wrong.

I haven’t got enough strips to last me the rest of the week and my sensor is hurting in my arm and I just want to take it out but don’t want to just in case it works again.

Anyone know whether I will be able to buy some strips from a pharmacy abroad or know what I can do as I’m stuck

Hi @CJRoberts It sounds like the sensor has stopped working, could you of caught it on something ?

Which country are you in ?

I would be buying strips from a local pharmacy.

Whenever I go away, I take twice as much of everything than I think I will need.
This includes pump supplies plus pens (with enough needles and insulin if the pump failed on the first day I could cope); if I have a Libre sensor, I take twice as many strips as I would need if the sensor failed on the first day. I take spare batteries for everything, ...

Unfortunately, things have a habit of failing at the most inconvenient time.

Oh dear. Maybe the extra activity in travelling moved the sensor a bit. Whether it will work again properly is hard to know.

Where are you? The best way to find out if you can buy test strips at a pharmacy is to go and ask.

Before you remove call up Abbott Libre just to check but if your getting constant lo's then it sounds like the filament is no longer attached to your arm. It shouldn't be too hard to find a pharmacy in Portugal so don't panic, but it's a lesson I also learned the hard way once on holiday too but mine was a pump cannula failure and after getting emergency insulin I had to head home, also fortunately on a mini break in Cornwall but still had to cut the holiday short, like Helen now I travel with x3 of everything I think I'll need.

If in doubt @CJRoberts you could always buy a new meter and strips where you are. There are plenty of website (and probably apps too) that'd be able to convert the measurements.

I was able to buy iBGStar strips on Guadeloupe, and Abbott on lots of the Leeward Island chain.

I hope you get sorted out OK.

I managed to get strips easy enough! Found I had an infection in my arm from the Libre that’s why it had been hurting so bad. Had to take it out as soon as I could as I couldn’t stand the pain! Maybe it started to come out and got infected and maybe why I was getting inaccurate readings. Thanks all for your advice maybe I was abit naive into thinking it would be plain sailing with the Libre but I sure know for next tome better to be safe than sorry

Pleased to hear you got the strips, shame about the infection in your arm, though at least you know why it was hurting, now.
