Type 1
Hi
Its just started today I've been diagnosed with type 1 for 2 years now,and to be honest I've managed it quite well, but today I woke up checked my bloods they were at 8.2 later this morning after my breakfast which was corn flakes and whole milk,it went up to 18.6,but I did take the acquired insulin that I take for this,as I have the same amount every morning,
I have now been back and forwards to toliet all day about every half hour with a full bladder,so I checked my bloods they were down to 15.6,didn't go down much to say they normally do after insulin taken after breakfast I normally check myself 2 hours later and my bloods are normal between 6 and 9,but today I'm struggling to get them down,I can not check my ketones until I get home at half 6 so will do that soon as possible,I have no stomach pain no nausea and vomiting no confusion just the toilet, anybody any ideas thanks John

It may be that the fixed dose you have for breakfast every morning wasn't sufficient....

Are you on a basal/bolus regime..?...[separate quick/slow insulin's]

You may be experiencing a honeymoon coming abruptly to an end. When this happened to me (and I was still pre-insulin), it happened at the same time as me bumping my head badly, and I was convinced I'd triggered Diabetes Insipidus. Liquid would just pass through me, regularly, and I could set my watch by it ;). I would wake several times a night.
As my diabetes was well controlled, I'd stopped testing, and NEVER suspected high blood sugars.Long story short, I'd gone from no insulin, to daily injections of increasing amounts to control my high sugars.

I recommend plenty of testing, to see what's going on.

Something wrong with the pen, they do break sometimes, or the insulin, has it been stored somewhere too warm, or too cold, over night.

Or, and I'm sure you're too clever to do this, but I have, once or twice, thought I'd injected, but forgot.

Alternatively it's just one of those days, where blood sugar goes weird.

Thank you for your replys it is so nice to see there are people out there to help and support thank you for all your input I will be definitely looking into your replys more

Possibly get an apointment with your Doc, to rule out some sort of UTI or what not.... ;)
