I’ve been prescribed Sitagliptin but have gallstone and had pancreatitis previously Nurse says it’s ok to take with metformin Chemist says no anyone else any suggestions

I've just got the leaflet out of my Sitaglipin box and checked. It says to avoid if you have gallstones as it can cause pancreatitis, and DKA your Chemist is correct, back to the GP for an alternative

Thanks does anyone have alternative suggestions with fewer side effects there offering one which increases urine output but you have to drink loads and my job entails lots of travel on public transport so not keen I’ve read Bitter Gourd or Curalin are natural alternatives anyone using them?

Have you considered trying low carb to help control your blood sugar?

I'm afraid that the natural alternative to too high levels of glucose in the bloodstream is to eat fewer carbs, as our problem, as type two diabetics, is the inability to deal with carbohydrate.
To get normal numbers I need to eat under 40 gm of carbs a day. Few need to go as low as that, but I avoid high carb foods and eat salads, stir fries, stews - foods with a low percentage of carbohydrate, and it works very well.
