Evening all,

Hope you’re good!

I stopped smoking in January this year and moved onto the vapes... as you do. Obviously I know this still isn’t good for you, but better than the old ciggies.

I guess one thing I wanted to ask was whether anyone has experienced high blood sugars after vaping? My blood has been high all day, like 27 and above. I’ve bolussed for my meals and also changed the site of my needle.

Then again this evening my sugar is still really high and now I’m thinking is this being caused by the vape?

Thanks and hope to hear from anyone who may have experienced the same!

Cheers
Rick

We're talking nicotine here?

https://www.webmd.com/diabetes/news/20110328/nicotine-and-blood-sugar-bad-combination#1

It looks like it's the nicotine is the critical element in traditional smoking that raised blood sugar. I wonder if you're actually taking in more nicotine by vaping???

[mini rant, apologies in advance
Sorry, I know it's hard to give up smoking, I watched my T1 mother try and fail for 40 years. I also watched her live an extra 8 years because she gave up smoking just before she needed a heart bypass (they would have given her a quadruple one but gave her a double because her lungs were so bad), Then I watched her die at 78, killed by the years of smoking and not the T1. I'll tell you now what I wish someone could have made her believe when she was your age. Nicotine addiction and diabetes is a lethal combination. The conditions exacerbate each other.
ok, rant over]

Good luck

Forgive me if I am misreading this but I think you are saying you gave up ciggies in January and went straight onto vaping. Suddenly today, 4 months later, you have high bg and think it maybe due to the vaping you have been doing for 4 months.
This seems unlikely : why has vaping not caused a problem until today?
Have you discounted the usual? Stress, illness, changed you insulin batch, changed you pen/pump set, eaten something different, exercised less, drunk less...
To be honest, if my bg goes unexoectedly high for a day, I try not to draw any conclusions until I see a pattern.

Sorry I can't offer help on vaping but hope you sort your problem out soon.

This is interesting because I asked this question when I started a vaping about a year ago, when I tested myself I found it really depends on what your vaping, juice, herbs have different affects on bloods..
