Are you trying vegan to remedy your T2?I am a t2 and I have been trying to change to a vegan diet. Has anyone any advice for me. My blood sugars went up to 8.1 this morning and I felt dreadful. I had eaten toast and marmite. Thanks.
I have fairly often had toast for breakfast and never before such a reaction, do you think it could be that I am changing to a grain and veg based diet? That would be the toast. What other food do you like?
I don't care too much for eating animal products and I would rather stay with at least trying to go vegan. Are you trying vegan to remedy your T2?
What a wonderful poem, thank you. That made me laugh, breakfast is ready, one or two spoons of marmite. Hahaha. Are you following a veg based diet as well?It could be the toast a bit carby but 8.1 though highish aint that bad try eating your marmite off a spoon if it's the B12 your after.

I really like all grains, fruits and veg, and pulses and beans. It's a carb heavy diet though I can't seem to manage on just vegetables.
I thought I had replied, but it seems to have got lost in the aether. I like all the fruit veg , grains, pulses and beans.Well everything that isn't animal based. That would be the toast. What other food do you like?
Thank you, that's really helpful, I think I am butting up against the same problems. vegan diets are basically carb based I think and that's not good for us I suppose. I wondered if anyone had been successful with it.I've recently converted to vegetarian and keto but couldn't manage to combine vegan and low carb (I did try) without my BG going up to the low teens. I changed to vegetarian and managed to get my BG down to a reasonably good number within two weeks.

It isn't easy doing low carb/controlling blood sugars and going vegan but it is possible. Diabetes UK's lowcarbprogram has a full week's meal plan for vegans plus other recipes. If your health trust supports it you can get a prescription/voucher for membership from your GP or DN.
Probably the toast. I have either Hovis Pumpkin and Sunflower Seed or Tesco’s High Protein Bread which both have 10g carb per slice which is often enough - not sure if they’re vegan though!!I am a t2 and I have been trying to change to a vegan diet. What was your level before the toast? A rise of two points is ok, and 8.1 is fine anyway.I am a t2 and I have been trying to change to a vegan diet. Has anyone any advice for me. My blood sugars went up to 8.1 this morning and I felt dreadful. I had eaten toast and marmite. Thanks.
Matter of opinion surely... ?A rise of two points is ok, and 8.1 is fine anyway.
No I'm an omnivore though have eaten vegan meals and vegetarian meals each to their own I say I however have a particular liking for Marmite it is high in B12 and I like the taste and remember a spoonful of Marmite helps the medicine go down. What a wonderful poem, thank you.
