Hi, I have not been on insulin very long (type2) and tonight I injected myself and counted to 15 as I was told to and then removed the needle. When I removed the needle, quite a lot of insulin shot out in an big arc. Now I am worried that I have not received any and/or all of the insulin. Has anyone got any advice that could help me please? Thank you for reading.

Hi welcome :) as I'm T2 not on insulin, I've been looking for T1's who could may be help you as this is fairly urgent. @novowolf is about the only one I can see on the forum list right now. I hope someone turns up soon

Maybe @azure ?

Hi @Theresa1a im not gonna lie to you this is a bit out my depth here as this has never happened to me in 7 years.. :/ the only real advice i can give you here is to keep checking sugars (if you can) and if you begin to feel really bad then phone nhs 24 or see a doctor asap if you dont have access to a bm machine
Good luck

Hi. It has happened to me once or twice I guess because I hit a piece of hard flesh or muscle. Just ignore it. Your blood sugar may be a bit higher for a day. Try moving the injection point a little next time.

Hi. Some T2s after a time start to have a failing pancreas due to long term excess insulin and glucose in the blood. Some are actually late onset T1 who have been misdiagnosed etc. If you are T2 and just on Metformin and still have high blood sugar then ensure your weight is normal and that you have a low-carb diet. If none of these work then check your diagnosis with the GP. There are some other meds besides insulin that can sometimes help.
