I have been taking victoza injection pen for over 6 months now, and I have seen remarkable improvement in my blood sugar levels. Having got them down from 32 to 7.8 and to have been able to lose a considerable amount of weight. I was feeling a lot better in myself, up until recently when I had been due to receive another 2 pens of my victoza injection prescription. I was told by the pharmacy that they were having trouble getting hold of any and I should go back to the GP and ask their advice.
upon calling the surgery I was told that the company that provided the victoza wouldn't be producing any more. They gave me no other alternative but suggested that I tried contacting other pharmacies to see if they had got any in stock...
I tried contacting the diabetic team at the hospital and she said that they had only just been made aware that they were not going to be making any more, she didn't even give me any advice as such but told me that she was going to give me another tablet to take. I've been taking this tablet, linagliptin now for just under 2 weeks, and I don't think it's doing anything to help my situation. My blood sugar levels have been creeping up and I feel tired and achy..I feel like I'm putting weight back on again too, I really don't feel happy at all. I'm pretty sure that these tablets don't get my body producing it's own insulin like the victoza did, I felt great when I was taking that...
surely companies can't just stop making it without any warning to the patients who are taking it..?
I've just spotted that there's another injection called Semaglutide, and I'm wondering if this is a similar drug to victoza.? My body really needs to be on something that can get it working the same way it had been and I can start to feel better inside again..if I can avoid insulin and make my body produce it with a little help I would rather do that, but I can't keep going with these tablets as I feel quite unwell on them.
Has anyone else had to stop taking victoza and been put onto other medication..?
