Can anyone please advise if there is equipment availble for someone who is visually impaired - aged related macular degeneration, and who is not very dexterous and has problems 'clicking' the dose on the insulin syringe. She cannot read the blood sugar monitor and does not have the dexterity to count out the correct insulin dose. She would rather be independant if the right aids are available. Thanks.

For a suitable insulin pen, a chat with her diabetic specialist nurse, GP or other diabetes care healthcare professional would be advised.

This meter has been recalled, you need to go to the RNIB site for details of their latest model - I'm partially sighted so was curious about it and checked it out.
RNIB has a lot of useful aids for blind and partially sighted diabetics and they are well worth checking out.

Owen Mumford supply insulin pens that are fairly good for dexterity problems called Autopen. The pens enable people to give themselves insulin by sliding a trigger at the side of the pen rather than at the top and also supply a large push on grip to enable turning the dial a lot easier.
