Hello to those of you who have been following my journey and welcome yo anyone else this may reach.

I have now been given a date for vitrectomy on my right eye after approx 18 bleeds in the past 9 months. At first I was upset believing this to be a last resort but now I understand that term refers more to budgets and necessity.

So it's next Wednesday! Yep I'm terrified and to top it off I have my dvla sight test Monday morning, then I'm straight yo hospital for a pre op injection of eyelea. Really hoping I can get this test done before the op!

I wish they could let you have general anaesthetic lol.

Wish me luck/share positive experiences! Xx

Mine got cancelled.

So no advice, just best wishes for a smooth operation & a speedy recovery.

They did say mine would resolve itself over a year, so if yours is a similar time frame,

Don't be too disheartened until you have given it time to heal.

I had vitrectomy on my right eye 8 weeks ago and......its awesome!! I have one black blob which floats about, most likely some debris left behind apparently, but it's amazing! I can even see the feather details on birds in my garden. I'm incredible grateful to have had this operation. Left one will be next. At my check up a week ago they said my right eye was clear and healthy. So anyone who feels like they've lost the battle don't give up!

That's brilliant @Helen40 You've had a really awful time with problems with your eyes. It's great to hear that the vitrectomy was so successful. I hope the left eye goes well. Thank you for posting such encouraging news.
