Hi All,

I just wondered if anybody out there volunteers for any diabetes related charities. Despite working full time I'd like to be able to support others.

Thanks

Would you care to disclose your location? As that might help any local members - although, I can understand how remaining anonymous may be very important to you.

Yep, JDRF. A charity "benefit gig" called "Rock Diabetes" in my local... This involves local bands & some top acts (including Diamond Head.)with band members not only type one but many T2s too..
Lol, you seriously have to be a "metal head" to apreciate this... ;)

If you go to the top-level forum menu here, then scroll to the bottom, you will find three fora that are under the general title "Get Involved" including one that is called "Diabetes Events and Fundraising."

Hi @GrantGam,

I'm based in the West Midlands.

Thanks @Jaylee, I've reached out to JDRF re: opportunities. My husband is running a marathon for them this weekend!

Thanks @Grateful, I'll check it out.

Hi, here are some links that may help you, as charities are crying out for help, support, fund raising and getting the word out to the general public, well done :)

Hi there, i have also had an interest in helping others with diabetes, maybe using my own life experiences (I'm 43 and have been type 1 since I was 5) I also have a degree in counselling which I've found many diabetic clinics don't have and need. I've offered my services to many diabetic related company's/organisations with little joy at all. I do see a couple of diabetic clients regularly at present, and it's a huge help being one myself in that work.

Would love to gain a full time position working with diabetes though, and I'm sure I'll keep looking.

Best of luck.
