Hiya
I'm 26 and was diagnosed with type 1 less than a month ago after being rushed to hospital. When the doctors explained it all to me, of course I was upset and thought my life would be limited at the least. However, since I've been home I have been suprised by how well I have taken it. I've not even had a down day, Injecting myself isn't great and my long acting insulin does sting but that is a bout it. My nurse has even told me that she is impressed at how well controlled I am already. Now I'm not saying that i'm happy to have diabetes and I'm still worried about the future when I wish to have kids but it's not as bad as I expected.
I guess what I really wanted to know is has anyone else experienced this and am I just being naive. I'm just waiting for this big thing to hit and for me not to be able to cope.
