Hi. So I was out riding my bike today. I checked my BG before setting off and it was 16. Half an hour into the ride I checked them again and they were 2.3. This is the first time I've ever had a hypo with no symptoms. I was wondering if there was a device that could alert me about hypos, before I test. Can anyone recommend anything?

Hi @Felly ,

Wow! That's a bit of a drop in half an hour. (Adding approximately 20 minutes for "circulation lag") you may have already been dropping when you tested at 16??

Your on a pump? Tagging in @catapillar & @azure

Could either one of those finger prick tests have been corrupt in some way? You say you tested during your bike ride - were your hands clean? Sweaty? Just a thought.

As said above, it's possible your 16 was wrong. If it was a correct reading, when did you bolus last before your ride?

Did you set a temp basal?

A CGM like Dexcom has alarms and if you have a Vibe pump, it can support Dexcom.

Whenever I start an exercise I usually test right before then again fairly soon to see how things are going. Perhaps test after 15 mins next time for peace of mind? Exercise can make hypos harder to spot sometimes.

Hi all thanks for your responses. I'm on a Omni Pod pump. I think that my BG was coming down as the 16 was about one hour after eating and my BG was fine before the meal. I didn't do a temporary basal but will be doing in future.

Then that is/are probably the cause(s). At least you know what to tweak next time :)
