Ways of Eating

If you have read my blog, you will see that I tried a lot of so called diets especially the recommended ones by health care people. Non worked! I put on weight slowly but surely and felt dreadful because of them.
As @Brunneria has stated, the only way I feel good and have a life is to very low carb. As soon as I have carbs, the bad symptoms come back, so I stay away.
I understand the need to eat carbs, as this is some good stuff somewhere in them!
But having proved to my healthcare team, that at last, I can live a 'normal' life and feel good, why would I want to change my way of eating. I'm still losing weight! (Had to buy new stuff for summer! 32" waist shorts, from 38" bought two summer's ago!)

Very low carb, full fat, with treats. Mmmmmmm!

I tried something similar to the Cambridge diet, was on it for about 2 months lost just a few pounds and it nearly killed me because my metabolism started to shut my body down in self preservation. Came off that at the insistence of my Dr only to be told by a specialist that I was one of the few people who could honestly blame their metabolism andi would find it high on impossible to lose weight. That was the last one I tried and and ate a healthy 'low fat, low sugar, carbs ie pasta, rice, potatoes and brown bread and fruit' diet. I now eat low carbs full fat which, funnily enough, works :)

It was only when I was given the diagnosis that first time in 57 years I considered changing my feeding habits... I was a major rice, bread and pasta boy.... I really cut back on those, didn't really think about fat:protein ratio, weight fell off, BG and HbAc1 reduced and all looked better.. recently for 4 out of 7 evening meals I'll just have some meat, a pile of two veg and an avocado and my fasting numbers have lowered.... it's gradual, I only test three times a day, morning, before and after dinner looking for trends rather than absolute responses to specific meals.... and I really don't know if it is naive or not... but I really don't miss rice, bread and pasta.... never too worried about potatoes as they are basically nothing special... imho....
treats: not something I think of.... it's all good food.

Impressed with the reduction in waist measurements! Well done you!!

I have never had to worry about what I eat because I have always been thin,I never went much for sweet things, just a taste now and again.
I used to buy low fat cheese, yogurt, low fat spreads,as I thought fat was bad for us.I have always cooked from fresh.
Now I am type 2 ,so with the help of the forum I have cut carbs,I dont go mad on fat,but dont buy low fat any more.
I was worried about the weight I lost,I felt fine, but friends were asking if I was ill.
I have now stopped loseing weight,I have more energy and I never get heartburn any more and my BS has gone down from 58 to 45..
Jersey potatoes are comming into the shops, not sure I can resist.

I think fruits didn't work for me and workout too...The most awkward moment was that how could I even think for dieting!!?
