So, I've been on the low carb diet for about two weeks now. I have a lot of weight to lose but I could feel and see some weight loss recently and so did my hb and mum. I could fit my dress on better. I've been doing a really good job sticking to the diet and my blood sugar levels great. On the weekend the weather jumped from 16 degrees to 32 degrees for 3 days. After these 3 days I looked disgusting and puffy and bigger again. Is the weather causing me to be big? Should I be worried? At least I ate well and still went for walks but I'm upset my body is flubbier again.

You are probably just retaining water. Give it a few days and see what happens.

Thank you. Do you think it's diabetes related? It's just that before I had diabetes when I was slim I didn't have this problem.

I agree with Chalup, it sounds more like water retention. Having said that, temperature changes can affect blood glucose whether due to ambient temps or fever.

Well I forgot I did have a small throat virus with no fever. But as long as it's temporary fluid and not calories from sugar I'm ok.

But let's say glucose levels increase from temperature, does that equal more calories stored in the body therefore weight gain? I find n winter I eat more and lose weight and in summer I have no appetite and I put on weight.

Even if you are asymptomatic the body frequently fights off infection and this can cause transient higher BGs. It is the same with temperature, the effects are transient. Bg normalises but there are other factors involved.

As to summer v winter weight gain and weight loss that depends very much on the food that you are eating and to a lesser degree the excercise you might have.
