Tossing the caber up in the Highlands of Scotland
where the men have tree trunks for legs.
And the ladies, well, they can look after themselves.

Anyone remember the rounders game ?
We used to play this every summer

Anna .

I remember it and loved it. I used to be a fielder as I was very good at catching people out. Good at hitting the ball too.

Those were the DAYS

Roy - you have set next weekends topic with this great post

It will be games/fun of all our yester-years and past-times .
There was none of the modern technology we have 'nowadays' .

Thanks for the  [idea] you gave me roy :D

Anna .

Till next weekend folks !

Another "HOT" weekend here .

This weekends theme is fun and games .

Name ANY recreational game or fun thing from the past times/yesterday-years .

To get us started - Skipping with a rope !
Loved doing this as a youngster , it was great fun too

Anna .

Hula hoop - my friend has a weighted one which really "kills" but is very effective at whittling away the waist - you get used to the pain, honest!

Hoola hoop - great for the waist/hip tone up :)

I used to LOVE twirling mine around and seeing how long I
could keep it spinning for .

Anna .

Pinning the tail on the donkey .
Great party game in the past and still popular now :)

Anna .

Anyone remember the go-carts the lads used to self build and make .
Fruit crates, bits from battered/broken prams .
Scooter wheels where re-used .

The lads would then ride around on/in them for weeks/months on end.
Racing against each other in the streets ...
Till they broke - then they would just simply rebuild 'another one'
They were some lads total 'pride n joy' .

The simplest of things could be improvised to build these go-carts !
Many a mums washing line came down to be used on one of these . :P
Poor mum would come out to peg her washing out - line/rope/wire "GONE" !

Gezzathorpe, are you doing what's known as "Hot Linking", in other words copying
then posting in here the image url (the image web page address)directly from the image source.

If so, it possibly could be the reason your image is not showing, the source may have blocked it.

Just a thought.

willie.

EDIT...the source may have automatically blocked it.....
there's no wee man watching what you're up to. :D

Hi, I must stop visiting those sites!! You've got it in one! What's an alternative way? Is the problem the same with my avatar?

Anyone for doubles? ... Can you see this Willie?

Oooooh. Very nice :0

Hey, Red Bull still sponsors soapbox races :3

Only we don't have the free road space, time and for a lot of people, technical ability to be racing down our own streets much.

It's a shame. People seem to be losing their creativity these days. It doesn't often occur to some to make things anymore...

Hmmm... Back in the day?

Playing conkers. There is an annual championship and there was a revival with plastic clacker things and such.... But they were quickly banned as a safety hazard!

I've yet to try it but kind of want to do it with my boyfriend next time I visit (he's at the other end of the country)

Partly because I've never actually played Twister but think I'd be good at it... Can stand at pull one foot behind
me to the top of my head :3

I wonder if more recent Twister sales have actually gone up or down because of the naughty connotations associated.
