Hey all and welcome to the first weekend of this sticky thread!

I'll get us started with some Queen - going for Bohemian Rhapsody. What a classic!

So with that out of the way, this week's theme will be rock classics. You're welcome to deviate from the theme if the mood takes you, or if you're inspired by someone else's post.

This never fails to move me to tears. I think of the story behind it too which she denies. Have played it over and over again this afternoon..... Enjoy Anna  Bohemian Rhapsody has the same effect on me too. Thanks Giv

McArthur Park - Richard Harris

This song was loved by as many as hated it (especially the lyrics). Nevertheless, over 50 covers have been made of it. It was inspired by the love affair between its writer, Jimmy Webb, and Susan Ronstadt (cousin of Linda) ....

Daisy  Thanks for this I soooooo doooooo "LOVE THIS ONE" :D
My favourite bits are after the line of - thats our destiny ....

It is the song born of their Abba split - when they got divorced
I keep playing it as I really 'get' the reason's of the lyrics .
So fantastically done I feel and believe .

Lovely idea for a thread Anna, thank you.

This one has soooo many memories attached to it,
all from my cafe days in the 60's 8)
Despite my heart being broken a couple of times,
it still brings back great, woo-hoo, memories. :D

Thanks Daisy :)
Have had it on in the background

Meryl Streep can sing - Pierce Brosman 'cant' ...
Love the last bit of this film as we get the Winner Takes It All again

On last nights Eurovision song contest for those who did see it - ' her ' who sang this - killed it totally for me! :x

Another Weekend .

Please just choose your own favourite this weekend .
Tell us why they are a favourite of yours if you wish ?

This track by Mark Knoppler of Dire Straits always gets me so deeply , get spell bound with it .
Plus I always drool over the guitarist on his right wearing the blue jacket .
What a handsome hunk he is - [well he is to me!]
Reminds me of a guy I used to date [when in my 20's]
This track was one he hadnt ever recorded, only ever played this live up to then .
So its very special to me ... :D

During the 70's when I was working late in my office I used to play an Eddie Arnold tape,
this is one of my favourites from that tape.
Ignore the silly cartoon, it's the quality that counts folks. :D
It's the best recording I've heard since way back then.

One day I let a business associate borrow the tape...
I never received it back. :(
Months later I asked if he was finished listening to it.....
he said I never gave it to him. :?

I'm a sucker for this type of music.
Eddie Arnold. (he died in 2008)
