I have successfully managed to loose a stone and a half by joining slimming world and my blood sugars have dropped dramatically to the point they are dangerously low in the mornings 3.2.
I am still taking the same dose of metformin and have been suffering from diahorea, I am thinking this may be due to my dosage now being far too high.

Is metformin your only med for diabetes?

When are you due a med review? Normally states on your repeat prescription form.

Hi,

Your profile says that you are on insulin, is that correct?

Insulin has a far greater effect on blood glucose levels than Metformin does, so I think you may need some advice on adjusting doses - and a proper review of your medications.

With two things going on (morning lows AND gut problems from the Metformin) I would push for an urgent appointment with whoever reviews your meds.

Thank you all, finally have a telephone appointment tomorrow after two weeks of trying and been told by the doctors receptionist she had more important patients to see.

I stopped taking metformin due to same problems as you. Found it made no difference to my blood sugar this past week I am waking up between 4.3 and 6.

Have you only one dr?
Sounds like your doctor practice may be very very busy. Most of them are in the uk. I feel very lucky to have my accomodating practice.
When one of my drs retires it may get busier as he is only part-time.
We are struggling for gps, I believe.

I cannot tolerate most diabetic tablets hence why I'm on insulin. I manage metformin so it works for my other hormonal problems. Without metformin, I never lose weight. My tummy fat is hard and heavy without it. It softens my tummy fat so it can be broken down to lose weight.

Same levels as me
and me but on huge levels of insulin too. I have to take more when off my metformin. Insulin far more expensive than metformin. I feel I owe the nhs for me to try and make metformin work. They are funding enough!

I was on 40 units twice a day, now on around 20

I am on a lot less insulin now after starting LCHF it's gone down from 60 units bolus a day to about 20

The low carb element does that for me too. I'd been on even more insulin if I ate a high carb diet. Porriage can save me from a hypo on its way. Of course its all about getting things just right to enable me to lose weight. I can add weight just from treating a hypo.
