Hi all, I am in a bit of a predicament with my diabetic team and my GP surgery, my diabetic team are happy for me to start on Maunjaro for mainly weight issues but also to help lowering my HBA1C, it’s not terrible but could be improved. The issue I’m having is that the diabetic team won’t prescribe it unless my GP agrees to put it on a repeat prescription. The nurse at my GP surgery is happy to prescribe it but the GP themselves is being a bit funny saying he’s not sure if it’s possible for me to have it as I’m type 1. I’m going around in circles with them, has anyone experienced this before? I am happy to pay for it myself but again when I go to order as soon as I say I’m type 1 it gets declined straight away.

I always thought a type 1 could not be prescribed, that said I have a relative with type 2 on insulin who was put on MJ though under specialist clinic/hospital diabetic nurse.

Please be careful buying private as in my experience as soon as my mmol started lowering I found myself taken off all medication. I was on Metformin for years and found it stopped thanks to the injections. I cannot help but not feel a guinea pig (I'm now not on any medication and will have another test in 3 months to check if diabetes has remained in remission...) and that the diabetic team at my surgery are very vague about the injections. You ask a question, it doesn't get answered.

Hi @JMH91
This would appear to be an issue that could be resolved by your diabetic team directly contacting your GP. If that doesn’t happen I would suggest you contact both the hospital PALS team and your GP surgery manager, to get them to sort it out for you. You should not be left going round in circles.
