Weight loss on pump

Hi I’m currently trying to lose weight as since I’ve been on the pump my weight has rocketed HELP!

adjusting to life on a pump takes time and finding settings that work for you can be difficult.

if you are struggling with weight gain after moving to a pump i would suggest your diabetic specialist nurse as a starting point to see what help they can give. for me my insulin needs dropped on a pump but weight loss did not happen.


it isn't all about what you put in your mouth. there are so many factors that could be contributing

Likely that you are eating more carbs due to an incorrect basal rate or insulin:carb ratio.
More insulin makes you feel hungrier and helps you lay down more fat.

I hardly have any carbs that’s what’s so frustrating! I lost weight very easily when I was in the pen I’m thinking of going back on it at least I used to work it out myself successfully this new technology is ok but after 50 years it is a big change for me whatever you think all of you but thanks for the replies

I think of my pump as just another way to give me insulin. It is the same insulin as when I was using a pen and, if I eat the same and do the same amount of exercise, I need less insulin on the pump. I see no reason why the pump would be to blame for challenges when losing weight.
If you have had Type 1 diabetes for 50 year (which is a great achievement), ou may be of the age where weight loss is not as easy. The pump timing may just be a coincidence.

I would have to agree with @In Response as well, I've now been on a pump for 2.5 years, was on injections/pens before that for 40 odd years, I and a little heavier than I was 5 years ago, but then I'm also not too far off 50 now lol and don't get enough exercise (working from home so even less exercise than I was previously getting)
