Hi I wondered if someone could possibly give me some advice? I will try and keep this short!. After a blood test at my GP's back in January I was advised that I am borderline pre-diabetic. I was told my HbA1C was in the "at risk" category of between 42 - 47mmol/mol. Mine was 42. I must admit it came as quite a shock, I have no history of diabetes in the family and I am of a slim build. My only weakness is chocolate!! Yes I did but (not now) eat perhaps too much!!
My diabetic nurse discussed my diet and I was advised that I appear to have a healthy diet and mainly to cut out my sugar cravings, chocolate, biscuits etc. An occasional treat being ok. I have took her advice and carried on as normal with my diet cutting out my sugary treats., (the odd one occasionally).
I have noticed over the last few weeks I have been losing weight - which I must admit is unusual for me. I have always been a healthy 8st 5, but now weigh in at 7st 9. My loss mainly appears to be to my chest, thighs and face. I wondered if this is normal to loose this much weight in such a short period of time?? Also with me being only slim to start with I really don't want to be loosing weight as I already feel that I'm getting too thin. I was thinking of going back to my GP to discuss this matter but thought I would see if this has happened to anyone else?
Apologies for rabbiting on but I wanted to try and give as much info as possible. I really don't know who to turn to
I'm in my early 40's
Any help/advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you x
