Hey its been a whole since i posted but on friday my diabetes nurse decided to take me off the pump and put my back in my pens... Since being on the pump my weight has been stable and average for my height.. Now I'm worrying that going back onto pens its going to increase and i wont be able to keep it the norm.
I know it sounds like a pointless worry but its important to me for my own reasons, I'm angry at my nurse for not sorting things sooner and being so sly about how he took the pump off me

What was their justification for taking you off the pump? What were your respective HbA1C results? Did your overall control of your diabetes improve on the pump?

What were the reasons for pump being taken off you?

If this is not a fair decision then personally I would contact INPUT for some advice.

My HbA1C's started at a respectable 11% ... He offered me the pump to go with my lifestyle cause I'm so active and he thought i would be better off. I've only ever increased in the wrong ways and hes never helped and now hes blamed me saying i should of got in touch with him... Ive felt fine cause i been runnin high for so long so i didnt feel the need to contact him. He never helps

It was about my HbA1C's being way too high.. My pump buttons started to stick so i called for a replacement, he told me to go see him and he told me i was going back on pens... I havent seen him in months cause he never asks for me and never sends for check ups so me feeling fine on highs and him blaming me has really annoyed me!

I think you have to be honest here, running high's with a pump is not necessary. You were given the pump as a better tool to aulid you to achieve this..

Now I do see your side where you say your dsn did not contact you, but, again the pump is there for you to really be able to manage yourself after x amount of time. Some people need more help, some less.

We have I would imagine all expected a call in early days of pumping from the dsn and not got a call back.... I do sympathise with this. They can't be at the beck n call of every pump user though, they also have funding to sort out, new pumps to get, reps to see and more importantly children and parents have to my mind be at the top of the list to help.

If you did not achieve better levels and you think you are healthy running at a hba1c of 11, then I fully understand why the pump has been take away.

There are huge amounts of T1's that are desperate for a pump and would make better use of it to control their hba1c, so all the nurse has done is really to arrange that someone else who needs funding and wants to achieve better results can have your pump funding.

I do sympathise that communication between you and your dsn isn't good, but I have always found my pump dsn's and consultants the best ever.
