Weird one this morning

5.2 on waking, went back to bed for an hour 4.6
Then had breakfast bowl of all- bran and 4 strawberries. 2 units insulin (usual). On a weekday would then test before driving to work within the hour and about 7.5-8
Just about to start some gardening and 3.9!!
So now have to treat and wait!!

Thinking time to change insulin pen? Less than 28 days so confused
what's gone wrong?

Is that drop normal at that time of day? I'm thinking you may have been dropping before breakfast...
And there's always the "blame the weather" mantra. Or extra weekend exercise?

Honestly, sometimes it feels like there is no explaining it...:bigtears:

One other thought. Do you take basal at that time of day?

Hi,

personally, I wouldn’t say the insulin has lost potency which is what could happen if in use out the fridge on the 28 recommendation?

If you were dropping prior to the bolus dose? Possibly the basal? (Long acting,?)
Had you consumed any alcohol the night before? Busy liver dealing with that..?

basal is at night 10units so that waking is about 5 - which is fine. Previously dose was higher and waking was nearer 4.

It's never dropped that far mid morning - and by then I would have already been at work for 2 hours. It's never dropped post-meal either - and I was watching TV not exercising or walking about!

Had 3 jelly babies 5.9 followed by slice of toast.
Just finished 30 mins light gardening - 4.9
