The diabetes care team has told be to stop taking NovoRapid for the weekend, double my Metformin and up my Lantus from 4 to 8.

They think I might be able to get back to my body plus pills doing a lot of the work rather than insulin.

In only 6 months. Wow...
 
WOW that's a bungee jump of a drop and very impressive! Well done. Good luck with the next bit.
 

Wow, that's got to be one of the biggest reductions, well done. Were you diagnosed as a type 2 but given insulin to begin with, or as a type 1/lada? I ask because around 3 months into my diagnosis I had an hb1ac under diabetic levels (obviously achieved with the use of small amounts of insulin) and they said to come off insulin to see how it went, saying it could be the honeymoon period. They had done the tests to establish I was type 1 so said I had to monitor things closely as sooner or later I would need the insulin again, in fact they left the choice with me as they explained the honeymoon period meant some people could go without insulin for a while after diagnosis but would always need it in the end. After a few weeks of no insulin it started to rise again so I went back on insulin and am currently using small amounts. If you are definitely a type 2 then you must be really happy at 'reversing' it! Wow again!

I was diagnosed type 2 some years ago and managed it (or to be exact failed to manage it) with pills.

Had a DKA on Jan 23, in hospital for a week where I decided dying wasn’t something I wanted to do right now.

So total lifestyle change. 30 mins exercise daily, food portions cut down (probably 1/3 of what I used to eat), watching all my calories & carbs, and lost around 5 stone so far.

It’s a bit scary stopping insulin as it part of the thing that helped me get on track, but we trial it for the weekend and take it from there.
 
Well done! Lifestyle changes can be hard. Great to see results for your efforts!!!

So start of the test…

Kept everything as normal so had my evening meal that was 41g carbs but took 2 Metformin rather than my bolas injection.

4 hours later I was on 7.1 and by the morning I was 5.3

So this morning had my 27g breakfast, my Lantus, and 2 x metformin and we see what we have at lunch…
 
Just one note of caution - a rapid improvement can sometimes increase retinopathy in the short term (although it reduces the risk in the longer term). It's therefore important to attend all eye screening appointments that are offered and see an optometrist promptly if you develop symptoms such as blurred vision or floaters in between screenings.
 

Thanks, had my retinopathy check about 3 weeks ago and while there are changes there’s nothing that needs action.
