Crowds of people, my idea of hell would be a huge gathering of any sort!

Heights, scare me to death!
Liars, cheats. poseurs, any kind of violence, thieves and people who take advantage of others.

The way the world is going to hell in a handbasket.

Global warming, the melting ice caps, whaling..I mean what for?!

Cruelty

Having to give up my eat everything philosophy..and I really really dislike consequences.
It was a thought that ocurred to me just now. Today my FBG was 6.3 which for me first thing is pretty good. I find I feel best with a day time BG of around 4.5 - 5.5. To be perfectly honest, unless it's sky high like 13 or something I feel okay but I haven't had a high reading like that for months and months. My FBG is always higher, dawn phenomenon or I've had too many carbs the evening before is responsible.

I ask because when I first started this and first went onto Glipizide, my BG's were high. I took my readings at those times but they were around 8 so not hypo although I felt it, then I found out about false hypo's. Now I only feel hypoish below 3.5.

So my question: It seems the body gets used to lower levels and can operate well below levels it used to with no adverse effects. Does everyone else find this?

I was 3.8 earlier. I felt completely cr*p. About 5 seems to suit me.

im happiest at 3.5 never feel any effects down to 3.0 (never been lower) but when im in the 3s i know i have a huge range before going higher than i like to be about 5 is max im happy with

That's very interesting. It seems that the body really does get used to it...brilliant! :D

5.5, and the world is wonderful! A few weeks ago I would feel **** if I dropped to just below 5, now I go down as far as 3.2 before my legs start to turn jellyish.

I'm happiest when it's between 3.9 and 5.6, but don't feel bad generally unless I go below 3.4 or so. I get a tad grumpy if it's above 6.0

I sit between 3.8 and 6.5 most of the time. Lowest I've measured is 2.1 and was still fine although that did freak me so I ate some toast and jam. I tend to fall asleep if my levels go above 8.

Your bg level doesn't stay constant throughout your body. If it drops very low then your body will try and keep your levels in the blood in your brain higher than elsewhere.

The lowest I've seen anyone post and claim they were still conscious and able to act was a T1 who posted a 1.6

3.9 : optimum bg, fully concentrated, open mind, no worries or stress (never been high but i'd imagine thats what it might be like)
9.0+ : really depressed on top of my anxiety, tired, muscles feel like they are stretched and about to tear, lose weight making me really underweight which in turn causes a whole host of problems including dehydration, constipation, vomiting, feeling cold.

3.9 -6.5.
above 6.6 feel really Cr*p, below 3.9 its just a dip until my liver dumps!

My next door neighbour is T2 and has recently gone onto insulin injections he said he feels ill if his BG goes below 10 so he trys to keep it at that level.....he does have other medical problems

I'm happy in the 3.5 to 5 range before meals, I don't get below 4 as often as I would like though.

I don't notice a vast difference. If I go below 4.8 I feel hungry, but as I'm on beta blockers, I no longer get hypo symptoms for any real lows.
Unfortunately I feel the same at 14 as I do at 5... so my bg are always a surprise lol.

Well, so far I find I feel best at between in the 5s and 6s. I can tolerate 1 Weetabix with a little sk milk for breakfast where I may go up to 7.1 after 2 hrs. However, yesterday I added a small handful of blue berries to my Weetabix and after 2 hrs I went up to 8.3!! Left the berries off today and went up to 7. If I get up to 8 and above I feel dizzy + grumpy for 2 or 3 hrs until it comes down again, then I'm fine. I think our bodies must adjust to lower bs levels as before diagnosis and reducing carbs I don't recall being dizzy after eating, just fatigue after white bread. About 2 hrs ago I had to have 2 ryvita and 2 strawberries because I felt I was going to faint. I think it will take me some time to get used to all this to be honest.

My BG goes up throughout the day - starts about 4, when I get up and finishes at 8, before bed.

Don't usually hypo during the day but if I do overnight hubby has to sort me out - I'm such a deep sleeper it doesn't wake me up (actually house could burn down and I'd sleep through it :) ).

Should all you folks who like to be below 4 risk driving though? I'm sure you're supposed to be above 4 to drive.

Well! At last my FBG was pretty low at 4.5. I have been trying to get it lower for ages and I have finally worked it out. When I went to bed last night I had a reading of only 3.5, now usually this would have worried me and I would have done something to raise it a bit to avoid a nighttime hypo but last night I didn't and woke up to a good reading this morning.

I suppose I might be playing a dangerous game really but I would like some opinions on it. Is it wise to sleep with such a low reading or is it better to raise it and wake up to a reading of around 7? I have never had any problems at night with hypo's and last night was no exception but what do you think?
