Type 1 What do I do now?

I went to the doctors yesterday for all the pain I have been having and they refused to investigate further. All because I had ketones in my urine, I checked my ketones in my blood and they were 0.1, they still said I was in DKA???

So now I'm lost and in more pain because now my left hand is going numb, I don't know what to do as if they aren't going to help me, who is? Every time I go to the doctors it's always about my diabetes, I'm pretty sure if I broke my legs it would be my diabetes!!!

This has obviously caused me to be more stressed and upset as no one will help and I can't go anywhere else as I'll get the same treatment at hospital or minor injuries units!

Any suggestions? It's ruined my Christmas as I'm going to be in agony for it and I can't move out of my bed because I can barely walk! Help?!?!

And what was their advice around DKA (they are wrong but still.)

Can you move doctors or do you have a walk in centre you can get to? do you have a hospital team for your Diabetes?

@Engineer88 they were trying to get me to go to hospital, but last time I went they said I was in DKA when I wasn't. And I don't like taking a bed up in hospital as someone with a serious condition or injury might need it more than me.

I might try to go to minor injuries and see what they can do, I just don't want to be in pain for Christmas

Hello @Alex_B

Yes you need to go back to your surgery and ask to see another doctor, they clearly do not understand DKA and regardless of this you still need to see a doctor who understands type 1 and who does not pass you off. Alternatively make contact with your hospital and ask to see a DSN there.

Well it sounds like you need to be taken seriously which your gp isn't doing.

What kind of stuff are you eating and what are your bgs? how long are you diabetic?

@Engineer88 soft food at the moment as I'm waiting for my temporary dentures next week but tbh everything I eat doesn't stay in my stomach for less than 2 minutes after eating, if you catch my drift...

My bg is 12-18 as I'm getting more distressed and more pain it just goes up and can't get it down.

Go to hospital then and get yourself sorted out.

Definitely get yourself to hospital. Don't worry yourself about taking up a bed, I have seen people with a sore back in
A &E, so you do need to get something done asap.
Good luck.
