I missed with the Lancet and got a finger pad it isn't any different in colour just feels sore. I will pay more attention in future. Always wash my hands then rinse before drying, use hand sanitisers after using public lavatorial inconveniences, wear gloves when gardening and moisturiser with coconut oil.

Anything I can do right now ? Can't even see the lancet mark, it's that small.

It should be fine, especially as you can't see any mark :) Maybe avoid that finger for a day or two, as well as the obvious things like keeping it clean.

I've done the same thing :( Put some ice cubes and water in a glass and sit your finger in it for a while, that should help.

I am at screaming pitch at the moment with sore fingers. I use Fast clix lancet at level 5. I test 8 times a day. I am a Pump user. I've tried various hand creams and today I tried coating my fingertips with Tea Tree Oil. which stinks! Has anyone got other means of getting their fingers soother. Also at times I have trouble getting any blood out.

I was using mine at 4.5 and testing around the same about if not more than you and tried it at 3.5, this is a more comfortable level and I have lumps on all my fingers from testing

I have just switched to Owen Mumford Unistik 3 Comfort disposable one use safety lancets which are 28 gauge with 1.8mm depth and much better. The new one is the Gentle - 30 gauge with 1.5mm depth and I shall try those next.

@Gemma2: You must have very tough skin! I use a Fastclix too and mine's usually set around 2 - I never have to go above 2.5 with it and that's usually when it's blunt.

I couldn't bear the pain so uSe the third phalange of the fingers instead of the tips- more meat there, and i tested and the results are the same at both location, and bottom of finger is less painful (most of the time). Worth a try.

Oooh. Using fastclix as well, on the minimum of 0.5!

Tried 4.0 at this very moment... Ouch!

Edit: hurts still after some minutes. Ouch.

At the moment, the answer is 'grumble and try to pick the least battered finger'.

When I remember, I'll ask Accu Chek for the AST (Alternative Site Test) cap that you can get to go on the Fast Clix.

AST caps are free if you call AccuChek on 0800 701 000. As the test is with interstitial blood, there is the same lag in detecting rapid BS changes as if you used a CGM, far as I'm aware.

You could try changing the lancet more often, if it's damaged, then it will probably hurt. I try to change mine a few times per day.

Many thanks for all your suggestions folks. I will try a lower figure on the lancet. I don't use it more than once and this morning my finger tips were much softer after the Tea Tree treatment. Cheers.

Make sure you're not purposely or inadvertently pressing the pricker into your finger too. Just hold it against it. If you have problems getting blood out, try washing your hands with warm water first :)

I definitely learn many things from this forum. After having a sense of feeling the previous day's pricks, I went and got myself a Fastclix lancing device today.

I love it, at the lowest 0.5 setting, I drew blood with the least pain yet !

I saw a video ad on why the Fastclix is less painful than other standard ones, and the explanation about tissue damage seems logical.

For Fastclix users (or others), do you reuse a lancet, how many times ? Is it safe ? I never reused the lancets on my previous standard one, unless I didn't get any blood.
