What do you miss from the 'Olden Days'?

Dad wouldn't have a phone, said we would cost him too much. So I had to walk up to the phone box. Four old pennies to phone my friend. Press button A, then after talking for an hour, press button B to try and get my 4 pennies back, it worked sometimes.

Was chatting to the same friend yesturday, we've been friends for 53 years.
 
We had a trim phone in green, which matched the hall wallpaper and carpet, very posh, ps my mum put a lock on that because of my sister and here it is :-

I love these even now. Had a great ringtone, could listen to it all day, very relaxing none stressful sound.

Yes, it seemed to flatten, but push up and out and round things up too, an All in one lol

Oh my, I want to run back to the old house and answer it Great one, thank you but my mum would never had had this shade of green though
 
I smiled at loads of the posts. Lots of similar memories & experiences. For me it's....

Norman Hartnell "In Love" perfume. Came in a little heart shaped bottle.
Oxo flavour crisps.
Miners eye shadow in Deep Purple. (It looked hideous now I think about it.)
My Nana's homemade caramel shortbread & her Yorkshire puddings.
And
Reading my annuals on Christmas Day. The Cor, Wizzer & Chips as well as Oor Wullie or The Broons.

Happy Days.

Yes we had a mangle, i used to love using it! Our liberty bodices didn't have buttons to worry about, but they were quite difficult to get on - my sister and I had to help each other pull them down over our raised arms and heads
 
What don't you miss.

Me. In winter, ice on the inside of the bedroom window.
The fogs in winter.
 

Oh yes!!! This comic rocked above all others, i had every early edition lost to the wind of time years ago
 

My dad was the same. They didn't get a phone until my sister and I had both moved out in the mid '70s!

I'll never forget that cold!! The ice got worse in the early 60s when my dad changed the small top opening windows to louvre windows, they were so drafty so even colder!
I only remember one real pea-souper, I was about 15 and walking home one evening and literally couldn't even see my own feet for the fog and had to feel my way home along walls, it was really scary! I think the worst of the pea-spoupers were over by then (1970) after various regulations so that one must have been unusual.
 
I miss the test card, I also miss no telly after midnight and the white noise. don't know why.
