What does diabetes mean to you? A philosophical point of view.

Exactly. My diagnosis, although a setback at first, is driving me (no pun intended.. seriously) to not only regain my original physique but also to understand it.

T1 will never be a hindrance.

I like to think that I have the potential for a better life due to the way I have adapted my daily routine and what I now eat. It has taught me to seize the day and use my own mortality to push myself all the time, I would never of done a parachute jump, or done fundraising at supermarkets for JDRF and Diabetes UK, or even met some other wonderful type 1's (particularly on here). Its definitely made me more compassionate towards others and to not to take anything at face value,

Yeah it sucks but just gotta get on with it and not let it consume your life or give you an excuse to get out of living ;)

It's a while ago now, but I became a national champion in a sport I took up at uni. Who says Diabetes has to stop you doing anything?

For me its very simple you have to live with it or you will simply die form it...yes there will be times when we cry get angry or frustrated or punish are self and yes sometime all of them but in the end we wont to live and die having had a full and happy lifes with grandchildren all around us :o

Hear hear. In the bath tonight (where I do a lot of my thinking) I decided to make a bucket list although I have no intention of pegging out just yet. So far I have got taking a refresher driving course (which I've booked), buying a fishing rod and catching things (maybe even fish) off the beach and taking guitar lessons. When I've done those I'll add some more.
