What happened to this place?

Reading this again it appears that a touch of snobbery has entered into this place. Which is a great shame. I reckon that if a "Newbie" did give their opinion it would probably be shot down or ignored. Oh well I suppose in years to come I will be smug as I know it all

I have got all my information from the forum,a lot more than the medics and Expert Health course have told me,I spent a lot of time reading round and learning and when I have posted I have had some good advice.
The forum has motivated me to help myself,I dont feel alone due to lovely people I consider my friends on and off the chat line who I know will help me if need be.It dosent have to all doom and gloom and its good to have a laugh
I always welcome new people if I can and help when I can,
I thank you for the regulars that post, and spent lots of time helping people most of us have busy lives,Im retired but I dont know where the time goes.
Have a good evening everyone.

I have only been on here since Jan this year of 2016 all my knowledge has come from this site and all the advice and support also, without this site I do not know were I would be today. A big thank you to you all who have supported or advised me. So I will always try and be here every day when I can to try and support others and the Newbies too.

The forum of life ..
Change as it happens ..
I know what my needs and choices are ..
So many choices here to

Speaking personally, around a year ago there was some very heavy-handed moderating and thread-locking which put me off posting/contributing. A splinter group also formed around the same time as there were bans and threats of banning, then a few of us changed our user names when we discovered our posts were being shared on Facebook.

I'm still wary of posting/contributing but log in here because there's a few folk I care about and whose progress I'm genuinely interested in but I've become very selective in what I share which as a naturally caring and open person, is a shame.

So, much has happened in a year. Ce la vie

I'm a newbie, I joined January 2016. I'd be lost without the forum. I have found great information, sometimes there's too much information. I can't possibly read and be involved in all the threads I'd like to be. As a newbie I revived great advice and support which I have tried to pass on to other newbies, but I only speak from my own experience. I'm still learning. Other threads I simply cannot comment on as I have nothing relevant to say. As for the A-Z's I participate in 2 of those, they make me smile, I enjoy the little challenge of thinking of something I don't usually think about during my day, it's like flexing a little part of my brain. And surely that can't be a bad thing? When I smoked, I took a smoke break at least once an hour during my working day, I have replaced those few minutes with a quick visit to the forum. And if I smile during my visit to the forum then I've done myself a favour, smiling is better for my health than smoking.

That is wide of the mark.. I'm yet to see anyone who's been ignored, dismissed or disrespected. In fact, I've seen a lot more negatives thrown back at those willing to help.

This is a great site, a lifeline. For the moment I'm gaining experience and learning and hope to be able to share that with others in the future. In the meantime I try to post here and there, especially food/recipe ideas.

From my experience you are way off the mark. I have only been on here for 2 months. The advice and support has been amazing and I have posted many times and have come across no snobbery at all. That isn't to say that there are not differences of opinion but that make the site even more credible. So I respectfully disagree with you.
