I went to the GP on Thursday as I've been feeling generally tired and r8un down for some time. I'm nearly 20 and am usually pretty active so I thought I'd just been overworking or something. My GP asked if I had a dry mouth or felt the need to go to the toilet a lot, I said yes as that's been the case for a while, however I assumed this coincided with my new job, as the building is very 'dry' (because of the air con) so I've been needing to drink more fluids.
Anyway, my GP says he wants to get a urine sample to look for diabetes 1. He took some bloods from my finger and said my sugars were 8 point something, which is apparently high. I'm fairly clueless about what this all means so I'm not sure whether 8 point something or high sugar is a good or a bad thing or not. I gave him a urine sample and he's going to test that apparently. My question is what happens now? Will my GP let me know about the test? Like I said I don't know hardly anything but it seemed strange to me that he said he'd let me know about whether I have diabetes based on one blood test and a urine sample. Is this normally what happens to get disgnosed? Or will I have to be prodded and poked around a lot more to find out? Sorry if this is super long. By the way I am in England if that helps.
